    摘要: To permit punching of very small holes from a strip of sheet metal, for example to form a sequence of holes at the margin thereof, or to obtain small punched blanks, having diameters of a few millimeters, for example 1-2 mm or even less, and prevent adhesion of the punched blanks to a reciprocating punch plunger (1), the punch die (4) is formed with a shallow groove (8) in the wall of the opening (5) of a die, the groove extending either spirally or axially for the depth of penetration or stroke of the punch plunger. Upon withdrawal of the plunger, a small projection or nose which will have formed in the region of the groove will wedge or jam therein, thus preventing upward travel of the blank with the withdrawing reciprocating tool. Preferably, the opening is slightly conical, with a cone angle of, for example, about 1/2.degree. with respect to the axis (12) of the bore (5); a suitable angle of inclination for a spiral groove is, for example, 12.degree., and a suitable plunger penetration, for example with a straight, axially extending groove, is about 1 mm.

Also included is a eccentric member on the ram for performing leftward and rightward adjustment of the ram, and a vibrationally isolated driving means for moving the striker along the ram so as to adjust it over a desired upper punching tool.

    摘要: A method of producing a plurality of identical ring-shaped metal parts from a single blank in the form of solid rod without forming any hole in the blank and without cross-sectionally cutting the blank. The outer periphery of the blank corresponds to the inner periphery of the metal parts to be produced. First the blank is longitudinally compressed such that an end portion of the blank undergoes upsetting and provides a laterally expanded portion having a side periphery corresponding to the outer periphery of the metal parts and a length corresonding to the thickness of the metal parts. Then the laterally expanded portion is subjected to shearing along a plane defining the outer periphery of the blank to part its peripheral region as one of the ring-shaped metal parts. The blank remains in the solid rod form, though somewhat shortened, and therefore can be used to produce additional metal parts by repeating the same procedure until it becomes very short. The upsetting step and the shearing step can be performed in the same machine by using a set of opposingly arranged dies and coaxially arranged punches. Ring-like metal parts noncircular in their outer and inner peripheries can also be produced by the same method.

    摘要: During passage of an I-beam through a punching press for punching holes vertically through its web, holes are also punched through its flanges by horizontally acting punches of the present invention. Four C-shaped punching heads are provided for the flanges. To permit punching closely adjacent holes, two punches are powered by a single hydraulic cylinder, unless one is deactivated. A joint gauge screw precisely adjusts gauge (the spacing between the two punches), and may be raised or lowered for centering as to web. Before each flange punching operation, the web is pressed firmly against a fixed block level with the web die. The piston of the hydraulic cylinder is of such large diameter that the varying positions of the punches will lie within the projected periphery of the piston rod.

A workpiece clamp engages the workpiece and moves it along a support into and out of a work station.     摘要: The disclosed machine comprises a rotatable indexing head for holding an angle ring or the like preferably in a vertical plane. The indexing head is rotatable about a horizontal axis and is provided with a motor drive whereby the indexing head can be turned to successive positions at which holes are to be formed in the angle ring. Three jaws are slidably mounted on the indexing head to engage and clamp the ring. The jaws are operated by lead screws fitted with bevel gears which engage an axial bevel gear having a motor drive for operating the jaws. A punch or other suitable device is provided to punch the successive holes. The punch is mounted on a set of compound carriages whereby the punch can be moved radially and axially into and out of punching relation to the ring. The carriages are power operated and are arranged so that the pitch circle radius of the holes can be precisely controlled. An automatic electronic control system may be employed to control the indexing, clamping and punch positioning drives.

    摘要: The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein is directed to a flange punch positioning apparatus for locating holes to be formed through flange portions of structural members such as Ibeams, channels, and angles. In the case of I-beams, the holes formed in the flanges are located with respect to the horizontal line or plane bisecting the horizontal web portions. In the case of forming holes in channels or angles the holes are located in the flange with respect to the bottom surface of the horizontal web. The apparatus automatically positions the punch at the desired height along the flange by using a pair of diametrically opposed axially movable sensing rods which engage both sides of the web portion of the structural member to sense the relative level of the web. Once the proper reference level is sensed, the punch mechanism is moved into position above and/or below the web and the hole is formed.
