The wall of the tank includes: an inner panel, which directly delimits the containing chamber and is in contact with the compressed gas; and an outer panel, which completely surrounds the inner panel and is arranged parallel to the inner panel and at a constant distance from the inner panel.

Abstract: A fuel tank arrangement of a marine vessel is disclosed, having an LNG-fuel tank formed of an inner shell, an outer shell, an insulation therebetween and a tank connection space provided at an end of the LNG-fuel tank, the inner shell having an end part at an end of the inner shell facing the tank connection space. A collar is fastened to the end part of the inner shell and extends conically outwardly from the inner shell. The collar has an outer rim to which an additional shell extending in an axial direction away from the inner shell is fastened, and the additional shell has an end rim opposite the collar to which an end cover of the tank connection space is fastened.

Abstract: A system for storing and transporting compressed natural gas includes source and destination facilities and a vehicle, each of which includes pressure vessels. The pressure vessels and gas therein may be maintained in a cold state by a carbon-dioxide-based refrigeration unit. Hydraulic fluid (and/or nitrogen) ballast may be used to fill the pressure vessels as the pressure vessels are emptied so as to maintain the pressure vessels in a substantially isobaric state that reduces vessel fatigue and lengthens vessel life. The pressure vessels may be hybrid vessels with carbon fiber and fiber glass wrappings. Dip tubes may extend into the pressure vessels to selectively expel/inject gas from/into the top of the vessels or hydraulic fluid from/into the bottom of the vessels. Impingement deflectors are disposed adjacent to the dip tubes inside the vessels to discourage fluid-induced erosion of vessel walls.

Abstract: Container systems for the transportation and/or storage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) are provided. The container systems include: a) an outer shell; b) an inner pressurized container, wherein the inner pressurized container comprises a first chamber having a first vent and at least one other chamber having a second vent; c) at least one heat exchange zone in thermal communication between the first chamber and the at least one other chamber; and d) an interstitial space between the outer shell and the inner pressurized container including at least a partial vacuum. Methods for transporting and/or storing LNG using the aforementioned container systems are also provided.

Abstract: A system and a method for dispensing a liquefied fuel (e.g., hydrogen) are provided. The system includes a cryotank for storing a liquefied fuel, a pump insertable into the cryotank, and a switching valve. The pump has a piston, an intake port, and an isolation valve configured to supply the liquefied fuel to the intake port. The switching valve is controlled to flow the vapor from the pump and the liquefied fuel contacting a backside of the piston to the intake port of the pump. At least one block valve is also connected with the cryotank and the pump. At least one of the switching valve, the at least one block valve, and the isolation valve can be controlled to operate the system in one of three working modes including a pressure increase mode, a pressure maintaining mode, and a pressure decrease mode.

Abstract: A fueling station can include an outer housing comprising a housing volume, a first fluid bladder positioned within the housing volume and configured to hold a first fluid, a second fluid bladder positioned within the housing volume and configured to hold a second fluid, a first fluid conduit in fluid communication with the first fluid bladder, a second fluid conduit in fluid communication with the second bladder, a first hose positioned at least partially outside the outer housing and in fluid communication with both the first and second fluid conduits, and a bi-directional first nozzle connected to an end of the first hose opposite the first and second fluid conduits. The bi-directional first nozzle can be configured to simultaneously release fluid from the first hose and to collect fluid into the first hose. The first fluid bladder can be configured to release fluid through the first conduit in response to introduction of fluid into the second fluid bladder via the second conduit. The second fluid bladder can be configured to release fluid through the second conduit in response to introduction of fluid into the first fluid bladder via the first conduit.

Abstract: A nitrogen blanket system for small fuel tanks is disclosed that includes tank empty-space pressure control for sealed tanks that can hold pressure. The system includes a fuel tank storing some volume of fuel, such as diesel fuel. The remaining empty volume is filled with nitrogen by the disclosed system. The nitrogen blankets the liquid fuel and fills the remaining space in the fuel tank to prevent the accumulation of moisture and thereby prevent corrosion within the fuel tank.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a fuel tank arrangement of a marine vessel including a fuel tank for Liquefied Natural Gas, the fuel tank having a shell, a heat insulation in connection therewith, connections for a pipeline for bunkering LNG to the fuel tank, a pipeline for taking boil-off gas from the fuel tank and a pipeline for taking LNG from the fuel tank, and a deep well pump for pumping LNG from the tank to the pipeline, wherein at least one recess is extending inwardly from the shell and being arranged on top of the fuel tank, the deep well pump being installed in the at least one recess.
