Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present disclosure, a movable barrier operator including a body, a motor supported by the body, and a rotatable drive supported by the body and configured to be connected to an elongated driven member. The movable barrier operator further includes a shaft supported by the body and a compound gear mounted on the shaft. The compound gear includes a first gear operably coupled to a drive shaft of the motor and a second gear operably coupled to the rotatable drive. The first and second gears connected such that turning of the first gear causes turning of the second gear.

Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, an electric energy system, and a door system. The body assembly defines a refuse compartment. The body assembly has a cover that at least partially encloses the refuse compartment such that an opening is defined in the body assembly to provide access to the refuse compartment. The door system is coupled to the cover. The door system includes a panel and an electric actuator powered by the electric energy system. The electric actuator is configured to selectively reposition the panel between a first position where the panel extends across the opening and a second position where the panel does not extend across the opening.

Abstract: A dump gate system for a fluid hopper in a firefighting aircraft. A gate sealably engages a gate opening in the hopper at a closed position. The gate is hingedly connected about the gate opening, and a drive shaft is supported within the hopper. A crank arm is fixed to the drive shaft and is further coupled to the gate by a connecting link. The crank arm and the connecting link define an over-center geometry while the gate is at the closed position, such that weight of the fluid on the gate induces torque on the drive shaft in a gate-closing direction. An electric motor is selectively coupled to rotate the drive shaft in a gate-opening direction to thereby enable control of the fluid flow from the hopper according to an angular position of the drive shaft.

Abstract: A vehicle having powered door assist includes a plurality of powered doors, each powered door having an actuator for moving the door between closed and open door positions, and a plurality of sensors located on the vehicle for sensing objects proximate to the vehicle including one or more potential passengers expected to enter the vehicle and for sensing an obstacle within or proximate to a swing path of at least one of the plurality of powered doors. The vehicle also includes a controller determining an estimated weight of the one or more potential passengers, detecting expected height of the plurality of powered door with the estimated weight added to the vehicle, detecting height of a sensed obstacle within the swing path of one of the powered doors and determining whether the expected height of the one powered door will interfere with the sensed obstacle in the swing path.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling bus doors (14, 16) that are arranged as a pair of doors that move in coordinated relation between door open positions and door closed positions, enables passengers to access an interior area (12) of a bus (10). The apparatus includes an actuator (28, 226). The actuator includes a drive lever (34, 228) that is selectively rotationally movable between rotational positions in which both of the doors are in the open positions and in the closed positions. Exemplary arrangements include at least one controller (128) that is operative to prevent the doors from causing damage to or from being damaged by engagement with obstructions. The controller further enables a bus driver or other authorized user to control access to the interior area of the bus using a user mobile device (144).

Abstract: A powered actuator for moving a motor vehicle closure panel from a closed position to an open position and method of construction thereof. Powered actuator includes an electric motor configured to rotate a driven shaft and a gearbox coupled to the driven shaft. An extensible member extends through the gearbox to a proximal end on one side of the gearbox for attachment to one of a vehicle body or the closure member and to a distal end on an opposite side of the gearbox. Extensible member is configured to move between retracted and extended positions in response to rotation of the driven shaft. A contamination cover enshrouds the extensible member between the gearbox and the distal end of the extensible member. Contamination cover moves between an axially extended state and an axially retracted state while the extensible member moves between the respective retracted position and the extended position.

Abstract: A vehicle door assembly includes a vehicle body structure, a first door, a second door and a support assembly. The vehicle body structure has a wall portion that defines a door opening. The support assembly is fixed to the wall portion proximate the door opening and has at least one pair of tracks with door support devices and a motorized door mechanism. The door support devices independently support the first door and the second door for movement along the at least one pair of tracks and the motorized door mechanism is configured to raise and lower the door support devices along with the first door and the second door from respective closed orientations covering corresponding sections of the door opening and open orientations exposing the corresponding sections of the door opening.

Abstract: A vehicle barrier gate system which is positioned above a roadway through which vehicles pass. Some of the various embodiments of the present disclosure include a gate comprised of an arm and barrier which is adjustable between a raised position in which a vehicle may pass and a lowered position in which a vehicle is prevented from passing. The gate may be movably connected to a ceiling or an overhead support structure positioned above the roadway. Various types of actuators may be utilized to adjust the gate along a linear and/or angular path between the raised and lowered positions. A control unit may be in communication with one or more sensors and/or an authorization system to control the actuator. The gate may include a breakaway mechanism which allows the gate to be manually raised or lowered in the event of actuator failure or a vehicle ramming through the gate.
