摘要:
An infusion fabric includes a mat selected from a group consisting of continuous filament mat, direct chopped mat, direct continuous mat and combinations thereof and a woven roving or bonded reinforcement layer. The mat and woven roving reinforcement layer are stitched together. The continuous filament mat includes E-glass and/or ECR-glass fibers, a binder and a size.
摘要:
A mat for covering at least part of a ceiling made up of individual tiles. The mat renovates (e.g., improves, alters) the appearance of the ceiling. The mat is constructed so as to not impede the acoustical performance of the tiles being covered.

A fiber-reinforced fabric, composite materials formed from such fabrics, and methods of making the fiber-reinforced fabric or composite materials, are provided. The fabrics and composite materials demonstrate improved fatigue performance relative to conventional fiber-reinforced fabrics.

A method of manufacturing a liner for reinforcing a pipe includes providing a continuous first reinforcing fibers extending in a first direction, moving the first reinforcing fibers in a machine direction such that the first direction is parallel to the machine direction, providing sheets of a material having second reinforcing fibers extending in a second direction, placing the sheets onto the moving first reinforcing fibers such that the second direction is substantially perpendicular to the first direction, and folding the sheets into a closed shape.

The present invention relates to a chemically resistant glass composition for the production of reinforcing strands which comprises the following constituents within the limits defined below, expressed in mol %: SiO2 67-72%; ZrO2 5-9.5%, preferably ≥7.5%; R2O (R═Na, K and Li) 11-17%; Li2O 0-5.5%; K2O 0-5.5%; Na2O
摘要:
A glass composition including SiO2 in an amount from about 70.0 to about 78.2% by weight, Al2O3 in an amount from about 18.6 to about 26.2% by weight, MgO in an amount from about 3.1 to about 10.7% by weight, CaO in an amount from 0.0 to about 7.6% by weight, Li2O in an amount from about 0.1 to about 5.0% by weight, and Na2O in an amount from 0.0 to about 0.2% by weight is provided. In exemplary embodiments, the glass composition is free or substantially free of B2O3 and fluorine. The glass fibers have a specific strength between about 1.6×106 J/kg and 2.24×106 J/kg and a specific modulus between about 3.3×107 J/kg and 3.7×107 J/kg. Glass fibers formed from the inventive composition possess exceptionally high specific strength and a low density, which make them particularly suitable in applications that require high strength, high stiffness, and low weight, such as in wind blades and aerospace structures.

A reinforced liner and methods of manufacturing the liner are disclosed. The liner includes a glass veil layer as an innermost layer in combination with an outer reinforcing layer that includes glass fibers. The glass veil layer and the reinforcing layer are joined together, such as by an elastic yarn. Inclusion of the glass veil layer imparts desirable surface finish characteristics to the reinforced liner.

Improved glass batch compositions and processes of fiberizing the compositions to form fibers are provided. The batch of the present composition can include: 40-60 wt % SiO2; 15-50 wt % Al2O3; 0-30 wt % MgO; 0-25 wt % CaO; 0-5 wt % Li2O; 0-9 wt % B2O3; and 0-5 wt % Na2O. The fibers formed of the compositions may have a Young's modulus of greater than 82.7 GPa (12 MPSI). The fibers may also have good biosolubility (kdis), of at least 100 ng/cm2/hour.

摘要:
A device for chopping fiber strand includes a form, and a strand feeding mechanism that delivers the strand to the form and conveys the strand along the form. First and second grinding wheels may be included to cut the strand into individual segments of desired length as the strand is conveyed along the form. A method of chopping a fiber strand includes the steps of delivering a continuous strand onto a base end of a form, conveying the continuous strand along the form from the base end toward a discharge end and cutting the continuous strand into individual segments of desired length, for example using first and second grinding wheels.
