    摘要: An electro-mechanical clutch apparatus includes a stationary member (22,122) having a center portion extending along an axis A and a stationary coil assembly (34,134) fixed about the center portion. A rotatable member (46,146) extends along the axis A and includes an annular projection (52,152) radially spaced from the coil assembly. A ratchet surface (29,129) presents a plurality of teeth disposed in axially aligned and radially spaced relationship with the annular projection. The rotatable member includes a magnetic pole piece (62,162) disposed in radially spaced and concentrically aligned relationship with said coil assembly. The rotatable member includes a locking member (58,158) pivotably attached to the annular projection and pivotable between an engaged position in engagement with one of the teeth in response to the coil assembly being de-energized and a released position displaced from engagement with the teeth and attracted towards the magnetic pole piece in response to the coil assembly being energized.

    摘要: A variable capacity vane pump (20) is provided having a pump control ring (44) that is moveable to alter the capacity of the pump (20). A control chamber (60) is formed between the pump casing (22) and the control ring (44). The control chamber (60) is operable to receive pressurized fluid to create a force to move the control ring (44) to reduce the volumetric capacity of the pump (20). A primary return spring (56) acts between the control ring (44) and the casing (22) to bias the control ring (44) towards a position of maximum volumetric capacity. A shaft is coupled at one end to the control ring and a second end of the shaft is positioned a predetermined distance from the casing (22). A secondary return spring (62) is mounted about the shaft and is configured to engage the control ring (44) after the control ring (44) has moved a predetermined amount. The secondary return spring (62) biases the control ring (44) towards a position of maximum volumetric capacity. The secondary return spring (62) acts against the force of the control chamber (60) to establish a second equilibrium pressure.

    摘要: An electromagnetic clutch includes a rotatable input member and a rotatable output member. A clutch plate is fixed tar rotation with one of the input member and the output member. An armature plate is axially moveable relative to the other of the input member and the output member. A self-energizing actuator includes energizing elements for converting rotary motion of the input member to linear movement of the armature plate. The actuator includes a biasing member urging relative rotation between the one of the input member and the output member and the armature plate to initially engage the armature plate and the clutch plate. The self-energizing actuator provides an additional clutch engagement force once the input member is driven and also includes an electromagnet to axially translate the armature plate and disengage the armature plate and the clutch plate. Alternative designs for the energizing elements includes a mechanical memory material having any one of a beam shape, a rod shape, a shaped roller or a matrix member.

    摘要: A flow-forming machine and method for forming a final part having helical splines. The flow forming machine is provided with a stripper plate for removing the final part having the helical splines therein from the mandrel and a thrust bearing is located between the stripper plate and the final part during stripping of the final part from the mandrel to allow relative motion between the stripper plate and the final part to successfully strip the final part from the mandrel without damaging and while maintaining the integrity of the helical splines of the final part. The ejector driver and mandrel may be rotated in either direction to help in successfully stripping the final part from the mandrel.
