Abstract:
A combination diaper bag and portable changing table provides convenient transport of infant care supplies and a place to change an infant's diaper which draws, filters, and then exhausts air from above the changing table. In a preferred embodiment, an infant care device has an enclosure, a lid pivotably attached to the enclosure, a generally planar platform which extends laterally across the enclosure, a generally planar foldable pad having a centrally disposed opening formed therethrough, and a fan which draws air from above the pad through its central opening.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a powder flow control valve comprising a nozzle formed from a material such as high density polythene having an upper frusto-conical section which converges towards the lower end of the nozzle and terminates in a cylindrical section. The nozzle is encircled by a plenum chamber to which sources of vacuum and air pressure are selectively connectable through a pneumatic control system. When vacuum is connected to the plenum chamber, the resulting pressure drop across the wall of the porous nozzle causes powder flowing through the nozzle to consolidate in the nozzle and terminate the flow. When air pressure is applied to the plenum chamber, the resulting pressure rise across the boundary surface accelerates powder flow through the nozzle. The control means is arranged to establish air pressure in the plenum chamber to initiate opening of the valve and flow through the valve and, after a pre-determined time, to terminate the air pressure supply and allow powder to flow under gravity through the nozzle before flow is terminated when a pre-determined quantity of powder has been delivered by the nozzle by applying vacuum to the plenum chamber.
Abstract:
In automatic banknote dispensing apparatus, a banknote access module comprises an enclosure which can be fixed in the outer wall of a bank and within which is a platform mounted to pivot about a fixed axis between a first position, in which it receives banknotes from an inlet aperture in the enclosure and is accessible to a customer when a door of the enclosure is unlocked following a correct delivery of notes to the platform, and a second position in which it ejects notes from the enclosure through a reject outlet aperture, for example following an incorrect delivery of notes. A shroud formed integrally with the door blocks the banknote delivery inlet aperture when the door is open.
Abstract:
Methods for controlling in real time an aspect of a process in a mobile or wearable device with a cadence of the device user are described, where the cadence of the device user is determined with an update frequency greater than the user's step frequency, and the controlling is also performed with an update frequency greater than the user's step frequency. For example, the determination of the user's cadence may leverage a combination of frequency and time techniques, with the analysis of, for instance, substantial orientation changes experienced by the device, or the detection of abrupt changes in the user's cadence.

Abstract:
Some embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus for controlling any aspect of a virtual environment in a mobile or wearable device, where the user is performing a gait activity such as walking, jogging or running, and the controlling is performed leveraging the gait characteristics of the user. In some embodiments, the gait characteristics include velocity and stride length. In some embodiments, the only sensors utilized to obtain any contextual information are accelerometers.

Described are computer implemented augmented reality techniques for public and private seminars that includes receive an indication of a start of a segment of a live presentation, the live presentation comprising at least one segment, with the at least one segment having at least one presentation component; receive information related to a plurality of users, receive rules to analyze the information and select from the information, private information pertaining to a particular user, with the selected information being relevant to the at least one presentation component of the at least one segment of the live presentation, generate an image that when rendered on a display device renders the private information pertaining to the particular user for that presentation component, and send the image of the private information to a device associated with the particular user.
Abstract:
A writing instrument includes a shell, an ink reservoir disposed in the shell and a writing tip section that is provided on the shell from which ink from the ink reservoir is applied to a substrate. The writing tip section includes a writing tip and an ink feed assembly for delivering ink from the ink reservoir to the writing tip through capillary action. The writing tip is flexible and a flexible cover with the shape of a fountain pen nib is provided for supporting the flexible writing tip.
Abstract:
An acoustic device includes a transducer formed on a first surface of a substrate and an acoustic horn formed in the substrate by a dry-etching process through an opposing second surface of the substrate. The acoustic horn is positioned to amplify sound waves from the transducer and defines a non-linear cross-sectional profile.
