摘要: The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to apparatuses, systems, and methods for managing liquid flow associated with a tissue site that involves using reduced pressure to control fluid flow. In one instance, an apparatus includes a first valve and a second valve in fluid communication with a reduced-pressure source. The valves are movable between an open position and a closed position and are operable to change flow status (open to closed or vice versa) based on a presence of reduced pressure. At least one of the first valve or the second valve is in the closed position to obstruct a flow of a liquid while the other is in the open position. The apparatus also includes a reservoir fluidly coupled to the first valve and the second valve. Other systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented.

摘要: Microstrain-inducing manifolds, systems, and methods are presented that involve microstrain-inducing manifolds that include a plurality of shaped projections for creating microstrain. The shaped projections may be tapered projections. A system may include a sealing member for placing over the tissue site, a microstrain-inducing manifold, and a reduced-pressure subsystem that delivers reduced pressure to the sealing member. The reduced pressure causes the shaped projections to create microstrain at the tissue site. Other methods, apparatuses, and systems are also presented.

摘要: Reduced-pressure medical dressings, systems, and methods involve a dressing with a first barrier layer that desolidifies when exposed to a fluid—typically a liquid—to form a treatment aperture in the first barrier that is used to deliver reduced pressure to a tissue site. The first barrier layer is formed from a desolidifying material. The system includes a drape covering a second surface of a manifold and a portion of the patient's epidermis to provide a substantially sealed space containing a manifold and the first barrier layer. Other systems, dressings, and methods are also disclosed.

摘要: Adjustable covers, systems, and methods are presented that include an adjustable cover that may be adjusted to an appropriate size by hand without requiring cutting tools and without substantial leaks. In one instance, the adjustable covering includes a drape member with a plurality of non-leaking tear paths. Each non-leaking tear path includes a weakened path of the drape member that may be torn. The adjustable covering may further include a first plurality of tear starters formed on a first initiation edge of the drape member. Each tear starter of the first plurality of tear starters is aligned with one of the plurality of tear paths. Each of the first plurality of tear starters is adapted to facilitate the initiation of a tear along a tear path. The grains of the drape member, a backing layer, and support layer may also be in the same direction. Other adjustable covers, systems, and methods are presented.

摘要: The illustrative embodiments described herein are directed to an apparatus and method for managing reduced pressure at a tissue site. The apparatus includes a reduced pressure source that generates reduced pressure. The reduced pressure is delivered to the tissue site via a delivery tube. The apparatus includes a single pressure sensor. The single pressure sensor detects an actual reduced pressure at the tissue site. The apparatus also includes a controller. The controller determines a responsiveness of the actual reduced pressure measured by the single pressure sensor to an increase in reduced pressure generated by the reduced pressure source. The apparatus includes an indicator. The indicator emits a signal when the controller determines that the actual reduced pressure measured by the single pressure sensor is nonresponsive to the increase in reduced pressure generated by the reduced pressure source.

摘要: A dual-cavity pump having a pump body with a substantially elliptical shape including a cylindrical wall closed at each end by end plates is disclosed. The pump further comprises a pair of disc-shaped interior plates supported within the pump by a ring-shaped isolator affixed to the cylindrical wall of the pump body. The internal surfaces of the cylindrical wall, one of the end plates, one of the interior plates, and the ring-shaped isolator form a first cavity within the pump. The internal surfaces of the cylindrical wall, the other end plate, the other interior plate, and the ring-shaped isolator form a second cavity within the pump. The interior plates together form an actuator that is operatively associated with the central portion of the interior plates. The illustrative embodiments of the dual-cavity pump have three valves including one located within a common end wall between the cavities of the pump. Methods for fabricating the pump are also disclosed.
