Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for optimizing nucleic acid detection assays for use in basic research and clinical research. Specifically, the invention provides a method for empirically optimizing nucleic acid probes by testing them with samples containing genomic DNA with variations in copy number in different regions of the genome. The invention enables the optimization of probes for any hybridization based assay including microarrays, bead-based assays, genotyping assays and RNAi assays.
Abstract:
The disclosure is directed to an application server including memory including an instrumented computer executable application. The instrumented computer executable application includes a first application method including a first set of tracing instructions and first remote application access instructions. The first remote application access instructions include a transaction identification. The first remote application access instructions are configured to access a first remote application method located on a remote application server. The first remote application method is configured to access a second remote application method located on the remote application server. The instrumented computer executable application further includes a second application method including a first program segment including a second set of tracing instructions and instructions for accessing the first application method. The second application method further includes a second program segment including instructions configured to access the second remote application method.
Abstract:
An improved window frame and window piece for a micromirror assembly is disclosed herein. The window frame includes a stress-relieving contour positioned in the middle of the frame that can absorb the mechanical stresses applied to the window frame from the ceramic base and from the window piece. The window frame may be comprised of a single piece of sheet metal that has been stamped to include a stress-relieving contour. The stress-relieving contour may be comprised of a variety of shapes, including a “U” shape, an inverted “U” shape, a curved step shape, or other combinations thereof.
Abstract:
An alignment device and method for delivering a light beam to an optical application, such as an optical trap having a pair of lenses with overlapping focal regions for trapping a particle therein. The alignment device includes a light source for generating a beam of light, a support member, an optical fiber, a collimating lens, and actuators. The optical fiber includes an input end for receiving the beam of light, and a generally rigid portion extending from the support member and terminating in a delivery end for emitting the beam of light. The collimating lens collimates the emitted beam of light. The actuators exert forces on the generally rigid portion such that it pivots about a pivot point of the optical fiber at the support member. The collimated beam of light pivots about an optical pivot point as the optical fiber pivots about the pivot point.
Abstract:
A precision yarn (14) delivery system for the delivery of yarn from a yarn supply to a yarn utilising point, comprising a temporary yarn store (22) intermediate the supply and the utilisation point in which the yarn (14) is held under low tension and is fed from the store as required by the utilisation point.
Abstract:
This invention presents a newly discovered, novel strain of Bacillus bacteria that produces lipase enzymes for the degradation of oleaginous materials such as fats, greases and cooking oils, protease enzymes to degrade proteins and amylases to break down starch. This novel strain and the enzymes produced thereby have a number of applications, including wastewater treatments, agricultural uses, laundry and dish detergents, drain cleaners and spot removers, among others.
