摘要: This is a procedure for stabilizing or filling an aneurysm in the vasculature. The procedure involves the introduction into the aneurysm of a solid vaso-occlusive device such as a coil or braid and a polymeric composition which may be reformed or solidified in situ. The solid vaso-occlusive device is at least partially surrounded or enveloped by that polymeric composition. The polymeric composition is reformed via light, heat, R.F. or the like to form a rigid mass with the solid vaso-occlusive device. These steps may be carried out sequentially or the steps of introducing the vaso-occlusive device and reforming the polymeric composition may be carried out simultaneously. The procedure may be accomplished using intravascular catheters to access the desired site and to deliver the noted materials.

摘要: Disclosed are compositions, methods and kits to control bleeding through the use of an internal occluder based on polymeric solutions, including use of reverse thermosensitive polymers in nephron-sparing surgeries, which produces a completely bloodless surgical field, allowing speedy resection. In certain embodiments, after a certain amount of time, the flow gradually resumes, with no apparent adverse consequences to the kidney. In certain embodiments, return of blood flow may be accelerated by cooling the kidney. The compositions, methods and kits for perfusive organ hemostasis can also be used to simplify or to enable other organ surgeries or interventional procedures, including liver surgery, prostate surgery, brain surgery, surgery of the uterus, spleen surgery and any surgery on any highly vascularized organs.

摘要: Embodiments provide methods and systems for treating aneurysms using filling structures filled with a curable medium. An embodiment of a method comprises positioning at least one double-walled filling structure across the aneurysm and filling the structure(s) with a filling medium so that an outer wall conforms to the inside of the aneurysm and an inner wall forms a generally tubular lumen to provide for blood flow. The lumen is supported with a balloon or other expandable device while and/or after filling. The pressure within the structure and/or in the space between an external wall of the structure and the aneurysm wall is monitored and a flow of the medium into the structure is controlled responsive to the pressure. The pressure can also be used to determine a filling endpoint. The medium is hardened while the lumen remains supported by the balloon. The balloon is then removed after the medium hardens.

摘要: The present disclosure provides improved medical devices for occluding a left atrial appendage. In one embodiment, the medical device includes a temperature activated memory shape foam that is constructed to transition from a first collapsed conformation to a second expanded conformation upon an increase in temperature such that it can expand to provide an occlusive benefit inside a left atrial appendage. In another embodiment the medical device includes a flowable thermoset that is injected into the left atrial appendage where is it cured so that it may assume the conformation of the left atrial appendage and provide an occlusive benefit.

摘要: An intracorporeal space filling device and a delivery system and method for using the device is disclosed. The space filling device is preferably configured for percutaneous delivery from a peripheral conduit of a patient. The space filling device has an elongated tubular or interconnected bead structure which may have a transmutable material disposed within it. The transmutable material can be altered from a non-rigid state to a rigid state by the application of various types of energy or by other suitable means. The space filling device can be positioned by a delivery system and detached from the delivery system after desired positioning is achieved.

摘要: The present invention relates to a device to photocure and/or photoactivate a photosensitive material. The device comprises several subsystems to transmit light towards an area of interest where a photosensitive material is applied as well as to collect light reflected by the applied photosensitive material. Reflected light is analyzed by an optical detector to monitor the photocuring and/or photoactivation process. Further means to inject or otherwise apply a photosensitive material can be combined in the same device. Methods for applying a fluent polymerizable material to a target site and for effecting polymerization of the fluent light-sensitive material in situ are also disclosed.
