Abstract: A utility pole assembly includes a utility pole having an inner core, and further includes a laminate structure surrounding the inner core. The laminate structure includes a reinforcing structure having fiber reinforcement, an outer layer surrounding the reinforcing structure, and a resin at least partially mixed with the reinforcing structure and the outer layer. The resin is resistant to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. A concentration of the resin in the outer layer is greater than a concentration of the resin in the reinforcing structure.

Abstract: Additive manufacturing of continuous-fiber reinforced composites. More particularly, aspects of the invention relate to additive manufacturing systems and methods for fabricating 3D parts from continuous-fiber reinforced composites such as carbon-fiber or glass-fiber pre impregnated (“pre-preg”) sheets. A laser-assisted laminated object manufacturing method is used to fabricate continuous carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites (CFRPCs) using prepreg sheets with continuous-carbon fiber reinforcement. Graphene functions as a modifier between the prepreg sheets to improve the mechanical properties of the CFRPCs, specifically low porosity, high concentrations of continuous carbon fibers, and improved interfacial bonding strength. This composite architecture design, involving laminated continuous-carbon fiber reinforced prepreg sheets and graphene-modified interfaces, provides a readily scalable manufacturing method for producing 3D parts with desirable characteristics.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides compositions including a carbon fiber material comprising one or more of dibromocyclopropyl or polysilazane disposed thereon; and a thermosetting polymer or a thermoplastic polymer. The present disclosure further provides metal substrates including a composition of the present disclosure disposed thereon. The present disclosure further provides vehicle components including a metal substrate of the present disclosure. The present disclosure further provides methods for manufacturing a vehicle component, including contacting a carbon fiber material with a polysilazane or a dibromocarbene to form a coated carbon fiber material; and mixing the coated carbon fiber material with a thermosetting polymer or a thermoplastic polymer to form a composition. Methods can further include depositing a composition of the present disclosure onto a metal substrate.

The spacer fabric has a compression force deflection, as measured by ISO3386-1, in the machine direction (MD) of 10 to 15 kPa. The spacer fabric can be secured to a trim material to form a trim cover.

Abstract: A multi-piece floor arrangement and assembly forms a floor covering that includes a top, or upper, rug portion and bottom, or lower, mat portion, and pocketed corner areas in each corner of an underside surface of the rug portion into which corresponding corners of the mat portion are insertable. The pocketed corner areas secure the rug portion with the mat portion when both are placed on an underlying surface while enabling a flow of air between the rug portion and the mat portion. The mat portion includes multiple interlocking sections that help to maintain the floor covering in a uniform planar shape and provide an aesthetically-pleasing appearance when placed on an underlying surface. The multi-piece arrangement and assembly does not move relative to that surface, yet does not require either a cumbersome installation or removal process.

Abstract: Disclosed in the present invention is a medical paper production apparatus. The apparatus comprises a yarn mesh forming unit, a yarn mesh gluing unit, a yarn mesh, upper-layer medical paper, and lower-layer medical paper combining forming unit, an upper-layer medical paper unwinding unit, a lower-layer medical paper unwinding unit, and a composite medical paper winding unit which are sequentially provided on a rack; and the described units are respectively electrically connected to a PLC controller. According to the apparatus, a yarn is first woven into a grid-type yarn mesh; then the two surfaces of the yarn mesh are coated with a glue; then the yarn mesh is sandwiched between an upper-layer medical paper and a lower-layer medical paper; and then a pair of medical paper combining rolls are used to combine, by means of heating and pressurizing, the upper-layer medical paper, the yarn mesh, and the lower-layer medical paper into a medical multi-layer absorbent fiber reinforced material. The apparatus has a high degree of automation, can continuously produce medical tissues in batches, and can ensure firm combination of the yarn mesh to the upper-layer paper and the lower-layer paper, and uniform yarn grids; and the material forms a specific wrinkled effect by means of bidirectional shrinkage.
