Abstract: The battery pack includes: a plurality of battery cells each formed by closing an opening of a bottomed cylindrical outer can with a sealing plate; a battery holder to hold the plurality of battery cells in a mutually parallel attitude and hold electrode terminals provided at both ends of each battery cell in an attitude disposing on a same plane; and an outer case to house a battery assembly formed by holding the plurality of battery cells in the battery holder. The battery holder includes: a holding part to hold the ends of the plurality of battery cells along outer peripheral surfaces of the outer cans; and a cover on an end surface side of the plurality of battery cells held by the holding part. When the battery cell is abnormal, the cover is deteriorated by energy of a jetting body jetted from an end surface of the battery cell.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a frame component of a head-mounted device (HMD) configured to secure the HMD to a head of a user. The frame component includes therein a first compartment, a second compartment, and a channel connecting the first compartment and the second compartment. The frame component is configured to be positioned along a side of the head with the channel passing over an ear of the head, the first compartment disposed on a first side of the ear, and the second compartment disposed on a second side of the ear. The apparatus also includes a battery disposed within the first compartment, a processor disposed within the second compartment, and a heat pipe extending from the first compartment to the second compartment through the channel. The heat pipe is configured to transfer heat from the processor to the battery.

Abstract: Optimized charging of a battery of a computing device is provided. The computing device includes a dynamic phase change device. The dynamic phase change device includes a wick structure with a valve. The valve is operable to regulate a working fluid of the dynamic phase change device based on a position of the valve. The computing device also includes a battery physically connected to and in thermal communication with the dynamic phase change device, and a sensor operable to determine a temperature of the battery. The computing device includes a first heat generating component physically and thermally connected to the dynamic phase change device. The first heat generating component or a second heat generating component is configured to compare the determined temperature to a predetermined temperature and control the valve based on the comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed is a battery preservation device for preventing rapid depletion of battery life of an electronic device. The electronic device includes a heating element. The battery preservation device in the preferred embodiment includes a battery, a charger, a temperature switch, a temperature sensor and a manual switch. In an embodiment, the battery provides power output needed for heat and duration. Further, the battery is placed at a distance from the heating element. The charger regulates the rate that the battery charges and further the charger prevents the battery from overheating. In an embodiment, the temperature switch is programmed to turn on at a pre-defined low temperature and turn off again at a pre-defined high temperature. Further, the temperature switch prevents overheating of the battery. In an embodiment, the temperature sensor is positioned equidistant to the heating element as the battery, the temperature sensor estimates the temperature of the battery. In an embodiment, the manual switch configured with the temperature sensor for allowing the user to switch power between at least one of the heating element; and the temperature switch. The manual switch turns the electronic device on when exposed to cold temperatures and off when exposed to higher temperatures on the action caused by the user. Further, the manual switch prevents rapid depletion of battery life by dissipating the heat.

Abstract: A battery pack assembly or enclosure comprises one or more batteries having an electrochemical cell and an enclosure having at least an outer wall configured to create a sealed volume of space substantially around the batteries. An atmosphere of the volume of space comprises gas having a thermal conductivity less than 0.018 watts per meter per degree Celsius. This atmosphere of gas provides an insulative layer between the outer wall of the enclosure and the batteries. With this insulative layer, the battery pack assembly can be subjected to autoclaving without damaging the batteries. The battery pack assembly can be used to power surgical tools or other devices that are subjected to autoclaving.
