摘要: A self-cleaning, low-maintenance, water-saving automated animal watering device (10) is provided which includes a watering tank (12) moveable between a lower, water-full condition and an upper, water-low condition. Preferably, one end of the tank (12) is pivotally supported by a pivot shaft (64), while the other end of the tank is biased upwardly via a lower lift spring (72). The device (10) also has a water fill assembly (16) operably coupled with tank (12) to selectively fill the tank (12) when needed, and a drain valve assembly (18) also coupled with tank (12) in order to completely drain the tank (12) on a periodic basis. A control assembly (20) is coupled with at least the tank (12) and drain valve assembly (18), and is operable to actuate the drain valve assembly (18) after a predetermined number of movements of the tank (12) between the elevated and lowered positions thereof.

摘要: The present invention encompasses a system and method for tracing a particular load or series of a bulk agricultural commodity throughout the marketing process. The system includes a plurality of tracing caplets (80), each tracing caplet (80) including encoded information, a scanning device (90) capable of reading the encoded information, and a data retrieval and management system (110) operable to receive and store data, including the encoded information from a tracing caplet (80), concerning the agricultural commodity. One method for tracing agricultural commodities comprises reading information (210) encoded on a caplet contained in an agricultural commodity, and communicating (220) the information and additional data about the agricultural commodity to a data retrieval and management system (110). In another method of the present invention, data concerning an agricultural commodity is received, the data including the location of the agricultural commodity and information from a caplet dispensed into the agricultural commodity, and the data and information are stored in a database.

摘要: Novel metallic bodies are provided which present an essentially oxide-free surface protected by phosphate groups which directly and chemically bond to surface metal atoms. Metal surfaces such as Al or Fe can be protected by deposition of a phosphate film directly onto etched metal surfaces without intermediate naturally occurring oxides between the metal ions and protective phosphate groups. Preferably, metallic surfaces to be protected are first etched to remove oxides and other contaminants, followed by electrochemical treatment with a phosphate electrolyte to generate a protective film having a thickness of from about 20-100 .ANG. which is stable in ambient air.

摘要: A system determines the number of days livestock should be maintained on feed for maximum profit. In the preferred embodiment, current attributes such as marbling and backfat thickness are used to predict what these attributes, as predicted attribute values, will be at various times in the future. These predicted attributes along with other factors such as projected rate of weight gain, costs of feed and livestock prices are used to determine how many days the livestock should be maintained on feed in order to maximize profit.

摘要: Improved rye-derived bread improvers are provided which can be incorporated into otherwise conventional wheat-based doughs to give increases in loaf volume and crumb quality. The improvers include a water soluble alkaline proteinaceous specie derived from rye and having a pI of greater than about 7.5; the improvers are prepared by aqueous extraction from whole rye meal and subsequent separation of the alkaline proteinaceous species.

摘要: An improved process for the production of road deicer products preferably containing calcium magnesium acetate or calcium magnesium acetate/calcium magnesium propionate is provided. The process involves first providing a residual water plant sludge starting material containing calcium and magnesium compounds, and reacting this sludge with stoichiometric quantities of at least acetic acid and more preferably both acetic and propionic acids. The resultant reaction product can then be dried, ground and granulated to provide a dry, free flowing road deicer product.

摘要: A system for measuring intramuscular fat in live cattle uses an ultrasound device to produce ultrasound image of an interior muscle portion. The image contains speckle caused by the scattering of ultrasound waves by the intramuscular fat. Image data representative of the speckle are analyzed in terms of pixel grey areas in the computer to produce measures of intramuscular fat including partial autocorrelation, correlation in a co-occurrence matrix and nonspeckle area.

摘要: A simplified, low-cost forming system (46) and method for the rapid construction of integrated, monolithic cast structures such as storm shelters (20). The preferred forming system (46) includes an inner core form member (48) presenting a base (54) and upstanding sidewall structure (56), together with an open-top outer form member (50) having a circumscribing sidewall assembly (118) and a superstructure (120) releasably secured thereto. In use, the outer form member (50) is telescoped over the inner core form member (48), with the distance between the form walls defining the thickness of the resulting shelter (20); preferably, a reinforcing grid (52) and door frame (32) are located between the form members (48, 50). After form assembly, concrete (178) is poured through the open top of the outer form member (50) to fill the complete form. Upon setting of the concrete (178), upper jacks (182) are positioned between the superstructure (120) and the shelter (20), and are used to separate and allow complete removal of the outer form member (50). The shelter (20) is then separated from the inner core form member (48) through use of lower jacks (82) which elevate the shelter (20) relative to the inner core form member (48). In a second embodiment of the invention, a second outer form member (200) includes corner jacking assemblies (202, 204, 206, and 208) for expediting separation of the shelter (20) and the second outer form (200).
