In production of a titanium alloy spherical powder by a gas atomizing method, the difference in alloy composition depending on the product particle size is reduced economically. To achieve this, sponge titanium particles and additive metal element particles are mixed by means of a mixer having a pulverizing function such as a ball mill. The mixed particles are compressed to form a rod-formed raw material for melting. The formed rod-formed raw material for melting is powderized by a gas atomizing method. In the mixing step, the additive metal element particles are pulverized, or ground depending on the kind of particles, and solidly adhered to the surface of the sponge titanium particles, so that uniform mixing is possible.

A preform for a composite material which has high strength and excellent air permeability and hence is applicable to a high-speed die casting method and which is capable of forming a metal composite material having excellent mechanical properties by a high-speed die casting method. Also provided is a process for producing such a preform. Ceramic fibers or/and ceramic particles are mixed with a silica sol and calcium carbonate and sintered at a predetermined temperature to form a calcium/silicon sinter obtained from the silica sol and calcium carbonate. The calcium/silicon sinter coats the ceramic fibers or/and ceramic particles so that a preform having the fibers or/and the particles bound to each other by the calcium/silicon sinter is obtained. The preform for a composite material has high strength and excellent air permeability and is applicable to the high-speed die casting method capable of attaining high productivity.

A liquid injection type scroll compressor is used to a refrigerating apparatus using hydrocarbon fluoride refrigerant which does not contain chlorine (HFC-125/HFC-143a/HFC-134a) as an operating fluid and an amount of an injected liquid is controlled according to a discharge temperature of the compressor. Further, ester oil and/or ether oil is used as refrigerator oil and a dryer is disposed in a refrigerating cycle. With this arrangement, a refrigerating cycle operation can be stably realized in a wide range without almost changing the arrangement of a conventional refrigerating apparatus.

A preform for the composite material and an aluminum composite material which can form a composite material has excellent abrasion resistant property and high strength and a manufacturing method of the same are disclosed. A pre-mixture 9 comprising aluminum borate whisker 3 and potassium titanate whisker 4 in the range of 5% to 20% by volume was sintered at certain temperature. The titanium oxide 11 produced by the whisker reaction was bound to the surface of aluminum borate whisker 3, and the preform having high strength was obtained accordingly. Aluminum composite material 10 having excellent abrasion resistant property and high strength was obtained by impregnating aluminum alloy 6 to preform 1 for composite material.

A compact quartz oscillator includes a quartz vibrator that is integrally mounted on a circuit substrate. In the quartz oscillator, flux residue can be easily washed away. A cavity is defined in the approximate center of the circuit substrate. Within the cavity, circuit components defining an oscillation circuit, a temperature-compensating circuit, and other such circuits are surface-mounted preferably via reflow soldering. Connection electrodes are disposed at the four corners of walls surrounding the cavity. The connection electrodes are bonded to electrodes of the quartz vibrator mounted on the circuit substrate preferably via reflow soldering. Recesses are provided in the top surfaces of the walls. With the recesses, clearances are created between the circuit substrate and the quartz vibrator. As a result, in order to wash away flux residue.

The manufacturing method of plastically formed products prevents the generation of cracks at the time of plastic working, thereby increasing the productivity. It is also prevented that the metallic particles constituting the product become large and rough in structure. In the manufacturing method, only the compact treatment and the vacuum deaeration treatment are carried out prior to the extrusion treatment, without the pressure-heat treatment performed. Therefore, processing steps prior to the extrusion treatment are simplified, so that the productivity of the plastically formed products is improved and the metallic particles are prevented from being large and rough. The diffusion treatment between the extrusion treatment and the forging treatment enhances the adhesion at the inner part of the extruded material in the radial direction, whereby the generation of cracks at the time of plastic working is avoided.
