摘要: Methods and systems are provided for improving engine exhaust emissions while enabling exhaust catalyst regeneration following an engine lean event. Prior to a VDE event, or prior to an engine idle-stop, ammonia is produced and stored on an exhaust underbody SCR catalyst. Then, during the engine restart after the VDE mode or the idle-stop, the stored ammonia is used to treat exhaust NOx species while an upstream exhaust underbody three-way catalyst is regenerated.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for selecting a group of cylinders for selective deactivation, in a variable displacement engine system, based at least on a regeneration state of an exhaust catalyst. The position of one or more valves and throttles may be adjusted based on the selective deactivation to reduce back-flow through the disabled cylinders while also maintaining conditions of a downstream exhaust catalyst. Pre-ignition and knock detection windows and thresholds may also be adjusted based on the deactivation to improve the efficiency of knock and pre-ignition detection.

摘要: A method for monitoring an exhaust gas sensor coupled in an engine exhaust is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises indicating exhaust gas sensor degradation based on a time delay and line length of each sample of a set of exhaust gas sensor responses collected during a commanded change in air-fuel ratio. In this way, the exhaust gas sensor may be monitored utilizing robust parameters in a non-intrusive manner.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for controlling the automatic shutdown of an idling vehicle engine. When the vehicle is parked in an enclosed space, the idling engine may be automatically shutdown, while when the vehicle is parked in an open space, the automatic shutdown may be delayed based on an ambient temperature. In this way, the vehicle cabin may be maintained at a temperature that provides enhanced driver comfort while allowing wasteful engine idling to be reduced.

摘要: A system and method for monitoring a conditioning catalyst positioned upstream of an oxygen sensor used for feedback control of an internal combustion engine include comparing shapes of an upstream oxygen sensor signal and of the signal from the oxygen sensor used for feedback control of the engine while ignoring the signal amplitudes and mean values. Operational efficiency of the conditioning catalyst is determined based on a measure of the relative similarity or difference between the two signals.

摘要: A method for determining the effectiveness of a catalyst having both first, relatively high oxidizable material provided to remove emissions from the exhaust of an internal combustion engine and a second, relatively low oxidizable material provided to remove emissions from such exhaust. The method includes measure a difference in oxygen content upstream and downstream of the catalyst while the engine is producing the exhaust to determine the effectiveness of the first material and determining the effectiveness of the second material by comparing time delay in a property of the exhaust as such exhaust passes through the catalyst. In one embodiment, the property of the exhaust is the oxygen content in such exhaust. In one embodiment, the effectiveness of the second material is measured after the first material is determined to be ineffective.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for operating a vehicle engine including an intake and an exhaust, the engine further including a boosting device configured to provide a boosted air charge to the engine intake. One example method comprises, during an engine cold start, operating the engine with positive intake to exhaust valve overlap, driving a compressor of the boosting device at least partially via a motor to generate blow-through air flow into the engine exhaust through cylinders of the engine, and exothermically reacting a reductant with the blow-through air flow in the exhaust.

摘要: A method for determining a condition of a catalyst disposed in an exhaust of an engine. The method includes sensing a common property of both the exhaust upstream and downstream of the catalyst; taking samples of such upstream and downstream sensed property over a period of time; accumulating the samples over the period of time; determining statistical characteristics of the sensed common property of the upstream and downstream common property; comparing the determined statistical characteristics of the sensed upstream property with the determined statistical characteristics of the downstream property to determine whether catalyst was in a proper operating condition during such period of time. With such method statistical characteristics are determined from samples as they are obtained and then once obtained, processed to determine the condition of the catalyst. Such method thereby reduces memory or data storage requirements and also reduces computational requirements.

摘要: A system for determining a temperature of exhaust gases from an engine is provided. The system includes an exhaust gas sensor having an electric heating coil. The sensor communicates with exhaust gases from the engine. The system further includes an electrical circuit for generating a signal indicative of the resistance of the heating coil when the coil is not energized. Finally, the system includes a controller receiving the signal and calculating the temperature of the exhaust gases based on the signal.
