摘要: A fuel injector has a plunger for opening/closing a fuel path to control the amount of fuel to be injected; a seat portion for the plunger; and a plurality of nozzle holes for injecting fuel passed through between the plunger and the seat portion, A nozzle plate is provided with the seat portion, and a taper-fuel inlet hole has a diameter that gradually reduces from the seat toward its outlet, An orifice plate is arranged downstream from the taper-fuel inlet hole, and is provided with a concave portion opposite to the nozzle plate, with a plurality of nozzle holes being formed concentrically at a bottom of the concave portion. Each nozzle hole has an inclined angle in the direction of the plate thickness within the concave area.

摘要: A valve seat is provided upstream from said fuel nozzle orifice. A first valve rod opens and closes the fuel nozzle orifice with axial movements relative to the valve seat. A spring exerts the first valve rod away from the valve seat. A stopper restricts a lift amount of the first valve rod lifted with a force of the spring. A solenoid produces a magnetic field. A magnetostrictive element extends when current passes through the solenoid and shrinks when no current passes through said solenoid, and having a hysteresis in an axial deformation amount on extending and in an axial deformation amount on shrinking. A second valve rod presses the first valve rod onto the valve seat against the force of the spring when the solenoid is not energized, and for allows the first valve rod to move away from the valve seat with exertions of an extension of the magnetostrictive element and the force of said spring when said solenoid is energized. Wherein the extension amount of the magnetostrictive element when the first valve rod is fully open is set greater than a full stroke of the first valve rod from the valve seat to the stopper.

摘要: In a center injection type of direct engine, since it has an ignition plug and an injector arranged in proximity, there occurs the problem that a sprayed liquid fuel directly strikes the ignition plug and causes the plug to misfire. A notch is to be provided at a portion of the injector end so as to form a coarse-grained portion and a dense portion in sprays of fuel, and the injector is disposed so that the coarse-grained portion is directed towards the ignition plug. It is possible to avoid the misfiring of the ignition plug and thus prolong the life of the plug, by preventing a liquid fuel from directly striking the plug.

A fuel spray 47 injected out from the injection port 17 of the nozzle 16 is so formed that the orientation of the fuel spray is deflected in a definite direction on the basis of the longitudinal axis C of the fuel injection valve body, the reachable distance L1 of the fuel spray at the deflected side is longer and the reachable distance L2 of the fuel spray at another side opposite to the deflected side is shorter.
