Abstract:
Screen apparatus comprising a screen (10) which allows fluid to pass through it whilst providing a barrier to non-fluid matter in the fluid. A jet outlet (22) is arranged to direct a jet of fluid across that side of the screen (10) on which such matter would otherwise tend to collect when the apparatus is in use.
Abstract:
The invention described herein is drawn to a hollow cylindrical filter for use with a suction canister including a first portion having an open end and a first wall thickness, a second portion having a closed end and second wall thickness less than said first wall thickness, and an elongate central chamber having a substantially uniform diameter along its length. The filter is composed of a composite material including a porous plastic material and material adapted to increase the viscosity of a liquid coming into contact therewith. The filter is constructed to accommodate the changes associated with air flow velocity and shear force across the filter material as the fluid level in the canister rises, and automatically shuts off the vacuum to the interior environment of the suction canister. The invention also includes a filter system including such a filter in combination with a filter shield which accommodates the filter within and attaches to, or is alternatively integrated with, the underside of a suction canister lid.
Abstract:
An environmentally friendly acid neutralizing filter cartridge for mounting into a chamber of a cartridge mounting body for neutralizing acid in engine oil in an oil circulation circuit of an engine. The environmentally friendly acid neutralizing filter cartridge comprises a support housing comprising substantially no metal parts such that the environmentally friendly acid neutralizing filter cartridge can be readily incinerated. The support housing comprises at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port. A bed of acid neutralizing particles is contained in the support housing between the inlet port and the outlet port. Means is provided for preventing acid neutralizing particles from flowing through the at least one outlet port. An annular seal is arranged externally on the support housing and separates the at least one inlet port and the at least one outlet port to prevent oil from short circuiting the bed of acid neutralizing particles.
Abstract:
A reservoir unit to be installed within a fuel tank, in order to prevent bubbles generated by the fuel transfer jet pump of the fuel tank from feeding into the internal combustion engine, comprising a wall formed in a closed bag shape so that the delivered flow of fuel can fully turn round the discharge port of a jet pump, against which fuel containing bubbles delivered from the jet pump hits and, after turning around a partition wall a plurality of times, fills the reservoir unit, with the result that bubbles can be removed from the fuel more efficiently and the fuel in the reservoir can be prevented from containing a large quantity of bubbles.
Abstract:
In order to fit a reservoir unit to be installed in a fuel tank in such a manner that the air-tightness of the fuel tank be not lost even if a large acceleration or deceleration works on the fuel tank, the reservoir unit is configured of an upper subunit, a lower subunit and an elastic member. The upper subunit is provided with a plate-shaped portion to block an opening formed in the fuel tank and guide rails and extending from that plate-shaped portion to the bottom of the fuel tank, and the two elements are integrally molded of resin. The lower subunit is provided with a resin-built reservoir, and slots to slidably accept the guide rails are integrally molded with the reservoir. When a large force works on the reservoir unit and the fuel tank, the guide rails and are destroyed before the plate-shaped portion would be, so that the destruction of the plate-shaped portion can be prevented.
Abstract:
An adjustable continuous filtration system for cooking fats and cooking oils. Using a variable orifice restriction such as a valve, the amount of cooking fat or cooking oil recycled to a filter is controlled in accordance with the results of testing the discharged cooking fat or cooking oil for quality control, by changing the size of the orifice. If the discharged fat or oil is not within industry standards, the proportion being recycled is increased. If the fat or oil tests appreciably above industry standards, the proportion recycled to the filter is decreased.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting a fouled fluid filter are disclosed in which the fluid pressure at the outlet of the fluid filter is corrected by a correction pressure to determine a corrected pressure drop. Such a corrected pressure drop has a mathematical function which passes through a maximum magnitude before the fluid flowing through the fluid filter reaches a maximum value. The corrected pressure drop is monitored during the operation of the fluid filter and when the corrected pressure drop reaches a predetermined threshold value, before the engine with which the fluid filter is associated reaches its maximum power, an alarm will be actuated.
Abstract:
The filter according to the invention comprises an outer casing which is provided with an end cover having a connection to the engine lubrication circuit. The outer casing houses a first filter pack or element positioned to be passed through by the engine lubricating oil. A pressure relief valve, which allows the oil to bypass the first filter pack or element in the case of excessive pressure drop, is provided. The pressure relief valve cooperates with a piston element associated with an electrically conducting spring to establish electrical connection between an electrical contact and a part of the filter casing. A second filter pack or element is positioned to filter part of the oil which the pressure relief valve allows to pass when a high pressure drop in the oil flow through the first filter pack or element occurs.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device connected into an internal combustion engine fuel feed circuit and comprising a filter unit and emulsifier for the engine fuel feed, there being provided two or more fuel intakes located in different positions within said filter unit and a flow disintegrating emulsifier member.
Abstract:
A filter centrifuge wherein a drum is rotated about a central axis at high speed so as to drive the liquid phase of a liquidsolid suspension out through a filter medium has a liquidcollecting chamber radially outside of the filter medium and provided with an outlet from which the liquid passing through the filter cake is expelled. A venturi pump in the drum has a suction side connected to the liquid-collecting compartment radially inwardly of the outlet thereof so as to produce a negativepressure gas head that serves to draw air and any remaining liquid through the filter cake after most of the liquid phase has been drawn off. In addition during operation of the filter centrifuge this venturi pump, which may be driven by the liquid phase as it issues from the compartment or by a fluid fed especially into the drum for this purpose, serves to maintain a predetermined negative pressure in the compartment under the filter medium.
