In a rotary compressive molding machine for powder material wherein powder material filled in a die hole of a die mounted on a rotary table is compressed and molded between a lower end face of the upper punch and an upper end face of the lower punch, a powder lubricant spraying means that sprays powder lubricant comprises a spray nozzle that has a concave face facing to the lower end face of the upper punch or the upper end face of the lower punch at a position where the powder lubricant is sprayed and that sprays the powder lubricant generally toward a direction of the lower end face of the upper punch or the upper end face of the lower punch guided by the concave face, an air current supply mechanism that prevents the powder lubricant sprayed from the spray nozzle from scattering upward by spraying air near the lower end face of the upper punch, and an electrostatic charge device that electrizes the powder lubricant when the powder lubricant is sprayed from the spray nozzle and that electrizes at least the upper punch, the lower punch and the die with an antipolarity against the electrized powder lubricant.

A quick color change system for powder coating spray systems includes a powder pump having a powder inlet and a powder outlet, and a powder flow path extending straight from the powder inlet to the powder outlet on a single longitudinal axis, a pump frame on which the powder pump is mounted, and a carriage on which the pump frame is mounted, wherein the pump frame may be moved linearly along the carriage. The pump may be used with separate flow air and atomizing air inlets.

The invention provides a powder coating apparatus, comprising a fresh powder container for receiving fresh powder, a recovery container for receiving powder recovered from the coating process, and a mixing container, which is connected to the fresh powder container and the recovery container via a first powder line and a second powder line, and comprising a control means for adjusting the mass flow rates of powder flowing in the first and the second powder line at a predetermined ratio of fresh powder and recovered powder. A first powder mass sensor is provided in or at the first powder line, and a second powder mass sensor is provided in or at the second powder line, wherein the control means is coupled with the first and the second powder mass sensor to adjust the ratio of the mass flow rates of powder flowing in the first and the second powder line. First of all fresh powder is supplied into the mixing container via the first powder line until a predetermined filling level is reached; the fresh powder is then substantially completely supplied to the coating device and is sprayed there; excess powder is collected and supplied to the recovery container; when a predetermined filling level is reached in the recovery container, the recovered powder and the fresh powder are substantially simultaneously supplied into the mixing container.

An apparatus for applying powder coating material onto large objects such as automotive, truck or other vehicle bodies includes a powder spray booth defining a controlled area within which to apply powder coating material onto the vehicle bodies, a powder kitchen located at a remote position from the powder spray booth, and, a number of feed hoppers located proximate the booth which receive powder coating material from the powder kitchen and supply it to automatically or manually manipulated powder spray guns associated with the booth. Oversprayed powder coating material is removed from the booth interior by a powder collection and recovery system which transmits the oversprayed powder back to the powder kitchen for recirculation to the powder spray guns.

An apparatus is operable to sequentially spray powder onto each workpiece of a plurality of workpieces. The powder flows from an improved nozzle assembly as a series of pulses. Accumulation of powder on surfaces in the nozzle assembly is retarded by conducting a flow of fluid (air) from a source of fluid pressure through openings in the surfaces in the nozzle assembly. Thus, a plurality of openings are formed in a side wall of the nozzle assembly to enable fluid to flow through the openings in the side wall into the flow path of air and powder through the nozzle assembly to retard accumulation of powder on an inner side surface of the side wall. An inner deflector has an end surface which faces toward the workpiece and on which powder tends to accumulate. A flow of fluid is conducted through openings in the end surface of the inner deflector to retard the accumulation of powder on the end surface of the inner deflector.

An apparatus for spraying powder coating material includes a rotatable turret which moves articles to and from a work station. A powder spray gun is operable to spray a pattern onto each of the articles in turn while the article is at the work station. The powder flows through the spray gun as a series of pulses. A diverter assembly is operable to divert a portion of each pulse of powder away from the nozzle to more sharply define the pulse. An excess powder collector draws a flow of powder away from the work station. A virgin powder container supplies powder to a powder collector container which supplies powder to a powder feed container which supplies powder to the spray gun. Sensors associated with the virgin, collector and feed containers ensure that a predetermined quantity of powder is maintained in each container. During transport of powder from the virgin and collector containers, the containers and their associated pumps are vibrated to facilitate the flow of powder. The powder spray gun is mounted on a three axis adjustment assembly to enable the powder spray gun nozzle to be accurately positioned relative to an article at the work station.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for utilizing and controlling finer particles in a powder coating system returns the finer particles to the spraying apparatus to be sprayed on parts by the system. Finer particles are continuously removed from the system by application onto parts, and the accumulation of fines is thereby prevented. The finer particles may be sprayed through specially adapted spray guns, which also permits the utilization of the special advantages of spraying fine powder materials. By removing fine powder particles from the system before they build up, the present invention improves the powder coating operation in various respects.

Plant for the powdered-paint spraying of pieces to be painted, comprising a spraying booth with replaceable walls of the disposable type and a unit for feeding and recovering the paint that has not deposited on the pieces to be painted. The booth comprises a supporting frame which delimits a spraying chamber having at least two walls or half-booths which are arranged mutually opposite, have replaceable sheets and are movably mounted with respect to one another for moving mutually closer and further apart to vary the section of the spraying chamber according to the width of the pieces to be painted.

An electrostatic powder spray coating system for car bodies is disclosed. Above the car bodies (14) are moved through the cabin and from which the spray organs (94) are supplied with powder. The powder container (92) is supplied with fresh powder and recycled powder from a supply container (36). Short paths between the powder container and spray organs allow precise metering and therefore a good coating quality. The spray coating is applied within an arrangement of inner and outer cabins which allows pressurizing of space between the cabins to prevent ingress of atmospheric air into and egress of powder out of the system.

A filter unit (12) or a cyclone unit (22) can alternately be attached to a cabin (2) to draw powder out of the cabin. The units move on wheels. In an operating position adjacent to the cabin (2), they are automatically aligned with flow connections and can be connected. A common fan (52) for both units is connected with the filter unit (12) via a compressed air cleaning device (42) in terms of flow, if the former is in the operating position, and at the same time it closes off the inlet to a post-filter unit (32), while when the filter unit (12) is removed and the cyclone unit (22) is in the operating position, this cyclone unit (22) is connected with the fan (52) via the post-filter (32), and the cyclone unit (22) closes off a flow inlet of the compressed air cleaning unit (42). In this way, color changes can be carried out in a short period of time, and good exhaust cleaning is achieved by the filter unit (12) during extended operation with the same color, without a color change.
