Abstract:
A welded item is shown having an extruded weld bead with a high tensile strength relative to the layers from which it is formed. A valve with an insert is shown. A ball with an internal plenum is shown.

Abstract:
To provide a method of manufacturing a sealant containing tire tube, which is capable of simply opening a sealant filling hole without use of any specialized jig, and a vulcanizing die therefor. A vulcanizing die includes an upper die, a lower die, and a filling hole opening device. The filling hole opening device includes a linear actuator, a drive shaft, and a cutter. The lower die has a cutter passage which passes through the vulcanizing die from outside to inside, and a cut piece recovery passage which extends from the outside of the vulcanizing die to a portion, near the inner opening end, of the cutter passage. The drive shaft of the linear actuator is inserted in the cutter passage, and the cutter is fixed to one end of the drive shaft.
Abstract:
An automatic joining apparatus for automatically joining an attachment start edge and an attachment finish edge of a carcass play cut into a length somewhat shorter than a circumferential length of a former drum and wound around the former drum, is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a pair of magnet-containing drive rollers movable in the axial direction of the former drum while being held in contact with the proximity of the attachment start edge of the carcass ply and the proximity of the attachment finish edge thereof to join the attachment start edge and the attachment finish edge together, and a pair of gathering rollers movable in the axial direction of the former drum behind the magnet-containing drive rollers while being held in contact with the proximity of the attachment start edge and the proximity of the attachment finish edge to join the attachment start edge and the attachment finish edge together.
Abstract:
A composition useful in sealing punctured tires that includes asphalt, alkadiene-vinylarene copolymer, hydrocarbon resin and other materials. The composition is simple to install and lightweight.
Abstract:
Repairing of tubeless tubular tires and tubeless covers is achieved by injecting a suitable cement through the puncture hole onto the inner surface of the tire, this injection taking place in two successive steps. A first step involves depositing an annular patch of cement around the hole, and in a second step a pearl of cement is deposited concentrically to the hole. The pearl spreads on the annular patch to form a relatively wide deposit centered on the puncture hole and having a thickness sufficient to constitute, after drying and setting, a real repair patch centered on the puncture.
Abstract:
A moulding apparatus including a pair of mould cavities with locking spue grooves, means to form moulded rubber article parts in the cavities, means to prework the rubber without substantial curing before it is formed, means to pressurize the mould with gas and means to bring the mould cavities together to join the article parts. The arrangement for pressurizing the mould includes a retractable casing which is movable between a position in which the mould cavities are enclosed to permit their pressurization and a position in which the cavities are accessible outside the casing.
Abstract:
A machine for splicing rubber inner tubes. The machine has a pair of heated knives which move in parallel, generally rectangular, vertical pathways to cut exposed, aligned ends of a clamped tube immediately prior to moving and squeezing the freshly cut ends together in splicing engagement. Each knife moves vertically to a position for engaging an adjacent tube end, and then transversely across the tube. Immediately upon cutting disengagement with the tube, the knife again moves vertically and to a position out of interfering relation with the moving clamps which bring and hold the tube ends in compressive, splicing engagement.
