First, second and third gears are coaxially arranged with their axes aligned with the axis of the differential gear mechanism. First, second and third clutch gears are coaxially arranged on a clutch axis extending in parallel to the axis of the differential gear mechanism. The first and the second clutch gear are interlocked by a first clutch, and the first and the third clutch gear are interlocked by a second clutch. The first and the second clutch are arranged coaxially with their axis aligned with the clutch axis and are united together in a single unit.

    摘要: In a torque distribution control system of a four wheel drive vehicle, it is important to distribute a driving force properly between front and rear wheels according to friction coefficient of road surface. Especially when a vehicle runs on roads with low friction coefficients of road surface, it is very important to estimate friction coefficients of the road surface which vary every moment and to control the driving force according to the estimated friction coefficients. The present invention provides the torque distribution control system with means for estimating friction coefficients of road surface every moment based on data from a steering angle sensor, a vehicle speed sensor and a yaw rate sensor and for reflecting them on the calculation of torque distribution between front and rear wheels. Furthermore, yaw moment calculating means are provided to prevent the vehicle from tack-in phenomenon by properly controlling left and right wheels.

    摘要: An improved geartrain includes a transmission unit operatively attached to a longitudinally placed engine. The transmission unit incorporates a multi-speed transmission and a lockable planetary differential and further includes an input shaft, an output shaft, and connecting drive and drive and gears. Two alternative torque paths are provided to a quill shaft from the output shaft. One of these paths is a high-range path and the other of these is a low-range path. The two torque paths are directed through a synchronizer clutch between low-range and high-range. One end of the quill shaft is connected to the low-high synchronizer clutch and the other end is connected to the lockable differential. The differential end of the quill shaft is connected to the pinion carrier of the differential. The torque delivered by the quill shaft is split by the differential when in its unlocked mode with a portion going to the rear wheels and a potion going to the front wheels. A front axle synchronizer clutch assembly is provided to allow the front axle to be disengaged for two-wheel drive operation, in which case the differential is locked.

    摘要: A clutch actuating device for use in a vehicle drivetrain subassembly having a clutch and a rotatable drive member, including first and second rotating members which are rotatably mounted to the drive member and are free to rotate relative to one another and relative to the drive member. The first and second rotating members engage one another so as to cause axial translation relative to one another in response to relative rotation between one another due to the engagement of ramp surfaces included on each member or, alternatively, due to the engagement of screw threads formed on each member. A gear system is connected to the first and second rotating members for differentially driving them and for controlling a direction of rotation of the rotating members relative to the drive member. First and second pilot clutches, are connected to the gear system and the pilot clutches are selectively activated, and selectively grounded. Activation of one of the pilot clutches causes relative rotation between the first and second rotating members which results in engagement of the drivetrain subassembly clutch, and activating the other of the pilot clutches causes relative rotation between the first and second rotating members which results in disengagement of the drivetrain subassembly clutch. In a preferred embodiment, the first and second rotating members are attached to, and may be integrally formed with, first and second ring gears of a planetary gear set.

The differential gear device is provided with a planetary gearing for producing differential motion having a ring gear with an tooth portion, and a electro-magnetic multiple clutch for limiting the differential motion. The outer rotary member is provided with a tooth portion for engaging the outer friction plates. The tooth portion of the outer rotary member is formed to receive the outer friction plates from the tooth portion side of the ring gear and has an aperture at least larger than the thickness of one outer friction plate at the tooth portion of the ring gear. The electromagnetic clutch is provided with an inner rotary member with tooth portion for engaging the inner friction plates and a electromagnet for causing frictional engagement of the outer and inner friction plates.
