    Abstract: A coil spring according to one embodiment includes a lower end turn portion which is in contact with a lower spring seat, an upper end turn portion which is in contact with an upper spring seat, and an effective portion between the lower end turn portion and the upper end turn portion. The coil spring is cylindrical about an axis of the effective portion in its free shape which is not compressed. Further, with respect to a coordinate system in which a force line is assumed as a Z-axis, the coil spring is cylindrical with a constant pitch in a direction along the Z-axis in its compressed shape which is compressed to a specified height.

    Abstract: A reference block which is machined from a single body of material and is a single block with reference pins integral therewith is configured for use in a method of manufacturing a head suspension by laser-welding the flexure to the load beam at a first welding spot so that a tongue is pressed against a convex portion under predetermined load. The method includes steps of forming, before joining the flexure and load beam together, at least one positioning reference hole in each of the flexure and load beam within a circular range that is defined around the first welding spot with a radius equal to a distance between the first welding spot and the projection, laying the flexure and load beam one on another, inserting the reference pins of the reference pin block into the reference holes, and laser-welding the flexure and load beam to each other at the first welding spot.

    Abstract: A circuit member includes a metal base, an insulating layer, a conductor, and a cover layer. A terminal portion includes a thick portion formed on a side part of the insulating layer, and an extension portion, which is a part of the conductor, overlapping the thick portion. The extension portion includes a side pad portion along a side surface of the thick portion. A side surface of the side pad portion constitutes a side pad extending in a thickness direction of the conductor. A length of the side pad in a thickness direction is greater than a thickness of the conductor. A side pad insulating portion, which is formed of a part of the thick portion, is formed between a distal end of the metal base and the side pad portion.

    Abstract: A ball joint has a ball stud, a housing and a ball seat (seat). The seat is an elastic body in a tubular shape with the top and the bottom being open, and has a spherical space to accommodate a ball portion. The housing has a spherical inner face that is close to an outer periphery of the ball portion, to accommodate the ball portion in the inner face via the seat so as to support the ball stud. A clamped portion arranged at a peripheral end of the housing is clamped to press the seat so that the ball stud can be swung and rotated.

    Abstract: A wire material for an elastic member includes: inner circumferential-side reinforced fibers that are wound in a spiral form; outer circumferential-side reinforced fibers that are provided on an outer circumference of the inner circumferential-side reinforced fibers; and thermosetting resin that is provided in at least a part of the inner circumferential-side reinforced fibers and the outer circumferential-side reinforced fibers and firmly fixes the reinforced fibers with each other. An angle formed by a winding direction of the inner circumferential-side reinforced fibers and a center axis of the winding is 70° to 110°. A winding direction of the outer circumferential-side reinforced fibers with respect to a center axis of the winding is along a direction of a tensile load applied to the wire material for the elastic member in accordance with a load applying torsional stress to the wire material for the elastic member as an externally applied load.

    Abstract: A coil spring for a vehicle suspension according to one embodiment includes a lower end turn portion, an upper end turn. portion, and a cylindrical effective portion between the lower end turn portion and the upper end turn portion. In at least one of the upper end turn portion and the lower end turn portion, a taper portion having a taper length and a taper thickness for controlling a force line of the coil spring is formed. The taper portion is formed such that the thickness is reduced in a tapered way from a thickness varying portion provided in the middle of the end turn portion toward a distal end of the wire along its length. The thickness varying portion is arranged at a position close to the force line.
