    摘要: A wavelength selective switch architecture for ROADMs for switching the spectral channels of a multi-channel, multi-wavelength optical signal between input and output ports employs a biaxial MEMS port mirror array for optimal coupling efficiency and ITU grid alignment, an anamorphic beam expander for expanding input optical signals to create an elongated beam profile, a diffraction grating for spatially separating the spectral channels, an anamorphic focusing lens system, an array of biaxial elongated channel MEMS micromirrors, a built-in Optical Channel Monitor, and an electronic feedback control system. The bi-axial channel micromirrors are rotatable about one axis to switch spectral channels between ports, and are rotatable about an orthogonal axis to vary the coupling of the spectral channel to an output port and control attenuation of the spectral signal for complete blocking or for a predetermined power level. The architecture affords hitless switching, near notchless operation, ITU channel alignment, high passband, stability over a broad temperature range, and minimum insertion loss through the optimal optical coupling efficiency enabled by the feedback control system.

    摘要: A system and method for predicting yield of integrated circuits includes at least one type of characterization vehicle which incorporates at least one feature which is representative of at least one type of feature to be incorporated in the final integrated circuit product. The characterization vehicle is subjected to at least one of the process operations making up the fabrication cycle to be used in fabricating the integrated circuit product in order to produce a yield model. The yield model embodies a layout as defined by the characterization vehicle and preferably includes features which facilitate the gathering of electrical test data and testing of prototype sections at operating speeds. An extraction engine extracts predetermined layout attributes from a proposed product layout. Operating on the yield model, the extraction engine produces yield predictions as a function of layout attributes and broken down by layers or steps in the fabrication process. These yield predictions are then used to determine which areas in the fabrication process require the most improvement.

The method and apparatus scans the electromagnetic interference energy content of the frequencies listed in the swap table, for example, when the base unit and hand-held unit are not in use. A controller thereafter arranges the frequencies in the swap table according to their respective electromagnetic interference energy content. During normal operation, upon detection of a degraded active or hop frequency, the controller selects the swap frequency with the lowest electromagnetic interference energy content, which preferably is in the first position in the swap table, to replace the degraded hop frequency.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for mounting free-space optical communications system (FSO) equipment to a window. The apparatus includes a substantially rectangular frame member in which a central opening is defined. In one embodiment, the frame member comprises an extrusion that may be cut to a desired length to fit various window widths. The frame member is coupled to a window frame or the window via a plurality of universal mounting brackets. A support that is operatively coupled to the frame member provides a mounting interface to couple to an FSO terminal that is disposed within the central opening. In one embodiment, the support comprises a gimbaled support that enables the FSO terminal to be rotated about a pair of orthogonal spin axes. A valance is provided to prevent undesired access to the gimbaled support and FSO terminal and make the apparatus appear less obtrusive.

    摘要: An adjunct Type II caller ID/call waiting (CIDCW) receiver unit is provided which has a greatly improved ability to detect tones and other call related information on a telephone line from a central office while the customer premises equipment is in an off-hook condition. The inventive adjunct CIDCW receiver unit is placed in series between the telephone line from the central office and the customer premises equipment, rather than in parallel with the customer premises equipment as in conventional adjunct CIDCW receiver units. A second telephone line interface (TLI) is included in the adjunct CIDCW receiver unit for connection to the customer premises unit to simulate the impedance of the telephone line. The adjunct CIDCW receiver unit has the ability to disconnect, mute or suppress the microphone signal from the customer premises equipment from being included in the signal received by the call related information receiver portion of the adjunct CIDCW receiver unit.
