Abstract:
A thermostat includes a motherboard, a first modular board, and a display. The motherboard is configured to perform a thermostat function and generate a user interface a user interface including information relating to the thermostat function. The first modular board is configured to be added to the thermostat by coupling the first modular board to the motherboard and to be removed from the thermostat by decoupling the first modular board from the motherboard. The first modular board is configured to supplement the thermostat function performed by the motherboard when the first modular board is coupled to the motherboard. The display is communicably coupled to the motherboard. The display is configured to display the user interface. The motherboard is configured to adaptively reconfigure the user interface to include supplemental information provided by the first modular board in response to coupling of the first modular board to the motherboard.
Abstract:
A multi-function thermostat for a hotel room. The thermostat includes a touch-screen interface, a communications interface, and a processing circuit. In some embodiments, the touch-screen interface is configured to present information to a hotel guest and receive input from the hotel guest. The communications interface is configured to communicate with a hotel system. The processing circuit is configured to retrieve concierge information from the hotel system via the communications interface and cause the touch-screen interface to display the concierge information.
Abstract:
A home control system includes a thermostat configured to measure environmental conditions in a first room of a building and control heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) equipment within the building. The thermostat includes a central control hub configured to communicate with a plurality of remote sensor units via a data communications interface. The thermostat further includes a processing circuit configured to monitor and control non-HVAC equipment within the building. The system further includes a first remote sensor unit of the plurality of remote sensor units. The first remote sensor unit is configured to measure environmental conditions in a second room of the building and wirelessly communicate information associated with the measured environmental conditions to the central control hub. The thermostat is further configured to control both the HVAC equipment and the non-HVAC equipment within the building based on the information received from the remote sensor unit.
Abstract:
A thermostat includes a housing having a base, a display mount cantilevered from the base, and a case defining an interior volume extending between a front surface and a rear surface, a touch-sensitive display configured to display visual media and receive user inputs, wherein the touch-sensitive display is attached to the display mount, processing electronics on a circuit board positioned at least partially within the interior volume of the case, wherein the processing electronics are configured to operate the touch-sensitive display, and a mounting bracket configured to attach to a mounting location, wherein the mounting bracket includes a frame defining an aperture and the case extends through the aperture so that the frame is located between the front and rear surfaces of the case.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for using occupant location in a building management system are provided. A plurality of wireless emitters are provided at various locations in a building. Each of the wireless emitters broadcasts a different emitter identifier. Mobile devices in the building run an application which causes the mobile devices to detect and report, to the building management system, an emitter identifier associated with a nearby wireless emitter. The building management system uses the reported emitter identifier to determine a building zone in which the mobile device is located. The building management system provides information to the mobile device based on the location of the mobile device in the building. In some embodiments, the information includes a user interface for monitoring and/or controlling the building zone in which the mobile device is located.
