    摘要: The liquid crystal display device performs display by changing the number of gray scales depending on external light intensity, and switches the display mode in accordance with a content to be displayed on a display. By controlling a display mode-specific video signal generation circuit depending on external light intensity, an inputted video signal is outputted as an analog value, is outputted with a digital value of a binary, or is outputted with a multiple digital value. As a result, display gradation of a pixel changes timely. Accordingly, a clear image can be displayed. For example, a display device which secures visibility can be obtained in a wide range from under fluorescent light in a dark place or indoor to under outdoor sunlight.

    摘要: The semiconductor device includes a plurality of pixels each including a plurality of sub-pixels, a power supply line and a plurality of signal lines for operating the plurality of pixels, a driver circuit for outputting signals to the plurality of signal lines, a signal input circuit for controlling the driver circuit, a compensation circuit which determines if a pixel has a normal state, a defective bright spot, or a point defect in the case where a current value detected shows an abnormal value, and accordingly outputs a compensation signal to the signal input circuit, and a current value detection circuit which detects a current value flowing through the power supply line when each sub-pixel is lighted. Thus, a pixel including a sub-pixel which shows an abnormal current value when lighted is compensated by a signal output from the driver circuit.

    摘要: In an EL display device which performs area grayscale display, image quality is improved and stabilized. A plurality of subpixels each having light emitting elements which emit light of approximately the same color and a plurality of monitor pixels each having the same number of subpixels as the pixel are provided. The light emitting element in the monitor pixel is manufactured at the same time as the light emitting element in the pixel, and the electrode of the light emitting element in the monitor pixel is connected to a different constant current source in each subpixel. A circuit for changing a potential of the electrode of the light emitting element in the pixel for each subpixel in accordance with a potential change of the electrode of the light emitting element of the monitor pixel, thereby the aforementioned purposes are achieved.

    摘要: In a display device in which one frame is divided into a plurality of subframes and a gray scale is expressed by a time gray scale method, there is a problem of pseudo contour. A gray scale is expressed by sequentially adding a weight of each subframe (light emission period, light emission time, and the like). Further, an erasing diode is provided in a pixel. By turning this erasing diode on, the signal stored in the pixel is erased, thereby a non-light emission period is provided. Accordingly, subframes with different light emission periods can be easily formed.
