    摘要: The present invention relates to circuits configured for implementation in sensors, sensors employing such circuits, and methods of operating and manufacturing such sensors and/or circuits. In at least some embodiments, the circuit includes a capacitor having a first input terminal and a first output terminal, a first amplifier having second and third input terminals and a second output terminal, and a second amplifier having fourth and fifth input terminals and a third output terminal. The first output terminal of the capacitor is coupled at least indirectly to the second input terminal, the fourth input terminal, and the third output terminal. Additionally, the second amplifier provides feedback current with respect to the capacitor depending upon signals provided to the fourth and fifth input terminals. The capacitor and each of the amplifiers can be implemented on an integrated circuit without any need for external components.

    摘要: The present invention provides an optical receiver operable for optical signals each having different transmission speed. The optical receiver includes a light-receiving device, a pre-amplifier, a main amplifier, and a control circuit. The pre-amplifier, may be a trans-impedance amplifier, includes a parallel connection of a switching device and a resistor in a trans-impedance or a load element. By switching ON/OFF the switching device, the gain and the bandwidth of the pre-amplifier may be changed. By providing a filter circuit, whose cut-off frequency may be switched, in the main amplifier, the bandwidth of the optical receiver may be varied.

    摘要: An optical receiver is provided with an optical-signal-receiving section and a controlling section. The optical-signal-receiving section incorporates a photodetector. The photodetector has an APD. Through a passivation film, a photoconductor is placed on a portion of a surface of the APD which remains unoccupied by an optical-signal-receiving area of the APD. When this structure is employed, the signal for controlling the avalanche multiplication factor of the APD can be obtained from the photoconductor. Consequently, the signal can be obtained with a simple structure. Furthermore, the photoconductor has a good linearity of the output current even to a weak lightwave. As a result, the output current I for controlling the avalanche multiplication factor of the APD can be obtained with high accuracy.

    摘要: A trans-impedance amplifier receives an input current and is operable to generate an output voltage responsive to the input current. The amplifier is responsive to an increased range of input currents and has a wide bandwidth. The amplifier includes an input stage having a first and a second transistor and is configured to receive the input current. The amplifier includes an output stage coupled to the input stage and having a third and a fourth transistor. A variable resistor is coupled to the output stage to adjust the amount of current in the output stage. A variable current source is coupled to the output stage and is operable to adjust the amount of current in the output stage. A output driver, which is coupled to the output stage, includes at least another transistor. The output driver is operable to provide the output voltage and is operable to reduce the output impedance of the amplifier.

    摘要: A low-noise transmitter architecture and method for high linearity, high output-swing systems such as Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) systems. The transmitter uses a switched-current DAC having a current source coupled to ground, followed by a current-to-voltage converter. The resistance of the current source is typically large enough so that noise from an op-amp included in the current-to-voltage converter is not significantly amplified at the output. The current source may be passive and may include at least one resistor connected to ground. With a passive current source, portions of a signal output by the DAC enter either the current source or the current-to-voltage converter, but not both, eliminating noise in the system produced by the current source.
