The system is highly adaptable and capable of operating in a variety of modes to tailor performance of the system to specific odor control applications. The scrubber stages of the system may each be maintained at different conditions to selectively promote bacterial activity that targets a variety of odorous constituents. The pH level of the irrigation fluid provided to each scrubber stage may be controlled.

    摘要: A process and an apparatus for obtaining a hydrogen product and a sulfur product from a feed gas. The feed gas is comprised of hydrogen sulfide, the hydrogen product is comprised of elemental hydrogen and the sulfur product is comprised of elemental sulfur. In the process, a first separating step separates the feed gas to obtain a first purified hydrogen sulfide fraction comprised of at least about 90 percent hydrogen sulfide by volume. A dissociating step dissociates hydrogen sulfide present in the first purified hydrogen sulfide fraction to convert it into a dissociated first purified hydrogen sulfide fraction comprised of elemental hydrogen and sulfur. A second separating step separates the dissociated first purified hydrogen sulfide fraction to obtain a hydrogen rich fraction comprised of elemental hydrogen. The sulfur product may also be obtained from the dissociated first purified hydrogen sulfide fraction. Finally, the hydrogen product is obtained from the hydrogen rich fraction. The apparatus is provided for performing the process.

    摘要: A method and system for removing sulfur and dust from waste gases, particularly refinery waste gases, wherein the waste gas to be cleaned is passed to a scrubbing tower above a scrubber sump and, in order to remove SO2 and acidic gases, scrubbed in a scrubbing zone of the scrubbing tower, in counter-current with a scrubbing fluid that is drawn from the scrubber sump and passed to spray nozzles at the upper end of the scrubbing zone. Sulfites contained in the scrubber sump are oxidized to form sulfates, by means of gasification with air in the scrubber sump or in an external device assigned to the scrubber sump. A suspension stream is drawn from the scrubber sump. The gas that leaves the scrubbing zone flows through a wet electrofilter arranged above the scrubbing zone in the scrubbing tower, whereby dust particles and aerosols and entrained droplets are collected on precipitation electrodes of the wet electrofilter. The precipitation electrodes are periodically flushed with a partial stream of the scrubbing fluid, which is taken from the scrubber sump, applied at the head of the wet electrofilter and then enters the scrubber sump.

    摘要: An uncondensed gas in steam discharged from a turbine in a geothermal power plant and separated from water with a condenser is treated by a desulfurization method comprising the combustion step of combusting the uncondensed gas in the steam to convert hydrogen sulfide in the uncondensed gas to a sulfurous acid gas and the absorption reaction step of bringing a combustion gas coming from the combustion step into gas-liquid contact with an absorbent slurry and further bringing air into air-liquid contact with the absorbent slurry to allow the absorbent slurry to absorb the sulfurous acid gas and undergo oxidation and neutralization to exhaust desulfurized gas and to convert the absorbent slurry to a sulfate slurry, whereby detrimental hydrogen sulfide is removed from the steam exhausted after the use of the steam for power generation in the geothermal power plant.

    摘要: This invention relates to a gas refining system wherein a high-temperature and high-pressure reducing gas is introduced into a fixed-bed desulfurizer packed with an adsorbent by which sulfur compounds contained in the high-temperature and high-pressure reducing gas are adsorbed and removed in the form of a sulfide, and the adsorbent having the sulfide adsorbed thereon is regenerated by roasting it with a regenerating gas containing oxygen, characterized in that the gas refining system is equipped with oxygen concentration control means for controlling the oxygen concentration in the regenerating gas introduced into the desulfurizer so as to keep the internal temperature of the desulfurizer during the regeneration reaction within the allowable temperature range of the adsorbent. This invention includes an embodiment in which the exhaust gas obtained after the regeneration reaction gas is brought into contact with a calcium compound-containing slurry to recover gypsum is recycled to the desulfurizer for use as the regenerating gas for the adsorbent. Thus, the adverse effect of the heat of regeneration reaction on the adsorbent used in the fixed-bed desulfurizer can be avoided positively and easily.
