摘要: A colloidal structure includes a plurality of types of colloidal particles, and a matrix that fixes the colloidal particles. The plurality of types of the colloidal particles include at least first colloidal particles and second colloidal particles, which are different in average particle size from each other. Then, the plurality of types of the colloidal particles form a regular array in a matrix. A multi-colloidal structure includes a plurality of the colloidal structures. A method for producing a colloidal structure includes: a dispersion liquid preparation step of preparing a colloidal dispersion liquid by dispersing a plurality of types of colloidal particles together with a monomer; a coating film generation step of coating the colloidal dispersion liquid on a substrate, and generating a coating film; and a polymerization step of polymerizing the monomer in the coating film.

摘要: Quinacridone pigments that are surface-functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate, maleic anhydride, or 4-methacryloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride to create a functionalized pigment. The functional groups are then activated to bond hydrophobic polymers, thereby coating the pigment with the hydrophobic polymers. The quinacridone pigments can be used for a variety of applications. They are well-suited for use in electro-optic materials, such as electrophoretic media for use in electrophoretic displays.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a coating composition for forming a coating that at least partially mobilizes in response to UV light, the composition comprising a monomer selected from acrylates, methacrylates and mixtures thereof, a cross-linking agent comprising two sub-units covalently bonded together, each sub-unit comprising an unsaturated group which is co-polymerisable with the monomer, wherein the two sub-units are adapted to dissociate in response to irradiation by UV light. The cross-linking agent may be present in the coating composition in an amount of less than 15 mol % of the total of the monomer and cross-linking agent.

摘要: The present invention relates to light-scattering liquid crystal devices suited for use in light control glass such as optical shutters and use in segment displays in, for example, clocks. A light-scattering liquid crystal device according to the present invention includes two substrates 1, of which at least one includes an electrode layer 2 and at least one is transparent, and a light control layer 4 held between the substrates, the light control layer 4 containing a liquid crystal material and a polymer substance, wherein the light-scattering liquid crystal device includes, between the substrates and the light control layer, a thin film layer 3 formed by subjecting a thermally curable compound containing a reactive group to thermal curing. According to the present invention, a light-scattering liquid crystal device having dramatically improved adhesion can be provided.

摘要: Curable, coatable compositions include silane surface-treated inorganic nanoparticles with a high refractive index, and a curable reaction mixture. The curable reaction mixture includes a first (meth)acrylate monomer comprising a high refractive index (meth)acrylate monomer with a refractive index of 1.6 or higher, a second (meth)acrylate monomer comprising a lower refractive index (meth)acrylate monomer with a refractive index of less than 1.6, and at least one initiator. Cured optical coatings prepared from the compositions are optically clear, having a visible light transmission of at least 88% and a haze of 5% or less, and have a refractive index of at least 1.78, and are capable of passing a 10 millimeter mandrel flexibility test.
