摘要： Apparatus for sealing the gap between a piston and engine cyinder wall of either a reciprocating engine or a reciprocating compressor. The apparatus includes a plurality of functionally-identical, gas-bearing-supported seal blocks that locate in a slot running circumferentially around the engine piston. Gases fed from the engine chamber to the gas bearing carrying the load on the seal block in the direction of piston travel. The seal block includes a gas accumulator cavity for gas storage. An orifice feeds gas from the gas accumulator cavity to the gas bearing interfacing between the seal block and the engine cylinder wall. The apparatus also includes a reaction piston having gas communicated thereto from the engine chamber.

摘要： An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder block, a piston and a piston ring. The cylinder block includes at least one cylinder bore which includes a cylinder bore surface. The piston is located within the cylinder bore of the cylinder block so as to be displaceable upwardly and downwardly in the longitudinal direction of the cylinder bore. The piston includes at least one annular groove which has at least one inclined surface such that a bottom of the annular groove is located lower than an outer edge of the annular groove. The piston ring includes an outer peripheral portion and an inner peripheral portion. The inner peripheral portion of the piston ring is located within the annular groove of the piston for sliding engagement with the inclined surface of the annular groove of the piston. An inner edge of the inner peripheral portion of the piston ring is located apart from the bottom of the annular groove of the piston, and the outer peripheral portion of the piston ring is in contact with the cylinder bore surface of the cylinder block.

摘要： A piston seal device for a reciprocating compressor, having a piston slidably mounted in a cylinder bore and having a circumferential groove, and a resilient piston ring fitted in the circumferential groove of the piston and sealingly engageable with the cylinder bore. The circumferential groove includes a centrally recessed bottom wall for causing the piston ring to be resiliently and arcuately deformed to have a pair of opposite outer corner edges sealingly engageable with the cylinder bore. The piston sealing device thus provides a great sealing force both at the discharge stage and the intake stage, thereby improving the efficiency and lubrication of the compressor.

摘要： A piston-cylinder arrangement, particularly useful for the press shoe of an extended nip press. The cylinder is a fluid pressure cylinder with a piston, which is fluid pressure reciprocated, disposed in the cylinder chamber. The cylinder and piston are polygonal around their peripheries. A circumferential groove in the cylinder wall carries a plurality of sealing pieces which are urged outwardly of the groove and against the periphery of the piston. The sealing pieces comprise corner pieces disposed at the corners of the polygonal cylinder and second sealing pieces joining the corner pieces. Where the corner and second sealing pieces meet around the periphery of the cylinder, they have overlying, overlapping surfaces that are oriented perpendicular to the reciprocation of the piston. A spring in the groove may urge some of the pieces outwardly toward the piston. Particular beveling or rounding of the slide surfaces of the sealing pieces and a particular thickness of the sealing pieces with respect to the groove are described.

摘要： A side entry down-hole pump for oil wells which relies upon gravity rather than suction to receive incoming oil. A pump barrel is plugged at its bottom end and is anchored in the well. A pair of inlet slots in the side of the pump barrel admit oil to a pump chamber formed in the barrel between the inlet slots and the closed bottom end of the barrel. A pumping element is formed by a plunger assembly which includes a cup body carrying a pair of cup shaped seal rings. A pumping string reciprocates the pumping element up and down and provides a flow passage through which oil is pumped to the surface. During upstrokes, the seal rings move above the inlet slots so that oil flows by gravity through the slots and into the pump chamber. Downstrokes effect compression of oil in the pump chamber to pump it through the flow passage and through a check valve which prevents downflow of oil. A pair of discharge slots in the pump barrel relieve pressure created by oil trapped above the seal rings.

摘要： A reciprocating pump piston includes a piston rod which is adapted to be disposed within a cylinder. A piston hub is secured to the piston rod and is adapted to be reciprocated thereby within the cylinder. The hub includes a flange portion having a cylindrical outer periphery of slightly smaller diameter than the inner diameter of the cylinder and a generally cylindrical body portion having a diameter smaller than the flange portion. An annular piston seal ring is disposed about the hub body portion. The seal ring includes an inner leg disposed in mating relation with the body portion and an outer leg defining an annular sealing lip which yields radially inward upon insertion of the hub into an associated pump cylinder. Yielding of the outer leg is to a predetermined extent sufficient to block dislodgement of the inner leg from mounted association with the hub body portion. Also provided is an annular anti-extrusion member disposed around the hub body portion intermediate the seal ring and the hub flange portion. The hub body portion includes a circumferential groove adjacent the forward end thereof, and the seal ring inner leg includes portions which closely fit into the groove.

摘要： In a radial piston machine, there is provided an outer stator and an inner rotor rotatable on a control pintle provided with supply and discharge channels. The rotor contains at least one radial bore in which is slidable a spherical piston comprising an outer ball and an inner cylindrical sleeve. The radially inward end of the sleeve, which end is adapted to be acted upon by the outlet pressure of the machine, includes a sealing lip which, during operation, in particular at higher pressures, expands circumferentially and, under certain circumstances, moves in sealing abutment with the inner wall of the radial bore.
