    摘要: Methods and systems for managing the access and display of characters from one or more fonts may include initializing a storage space (e.g., a font cache) in a computer memory. The storage space may store information for select characters from the one or more fonts, allowing easy access by a font management routine. In the meantime, a second storage space (e.g., hard disk or DVD) stores information relating to all the characters from one or more fonts, which may be contained in one or more files. The font management routine receives an indication of a desired character to be rendered and determines whether the desired character is currently stored in the first storage space, the font management routine (or a related routine) may load the desired character from the second storage space into the first storage space.

    摘要: Herein disclosed is a optical disc driving apparatus for driving an optical disc having a central axis, comprising: a turntable having a central axis, said turntable being adapted to retain an optical disc under the condition that said central axis of said turntable is axially aligned with said central axis of said optical disc; an optical pickup unit movable toward and away from said central axis of said turntable, said optical pickup unit being adapted to write or retrieve information from said optical disc retained by said turntable; a stepping motor having a plurality of coils; a detecting unit for detecting an exterior vibration while being vibrated in response to said exterior vibration; a driver IC for controlling said stepping motor to have said stepping motor assume two different operation states consisting of a first operation state to drive said stepping motor to ensure that said optical pickup unit is moved toward and away from said central axis of said turntable, and a second operation state to drive said stepping motor to ensure that said optical pickup unit fails to be moved toward and away from said central axis of said turntable; and a control signal producing unit for producing a control signal to have said driver IC supply control currents in association with said exterior vibration detected by said detecting unit to said coils of said stepping motor to have said stepping motor assume said second operation state after judging whether or not said exterior vibration detected by said detecting unit is larger in amplitude than a predetermined threshold level.

    摘要: A modified polyolefin prepared from an aqueous suspension containing (a) a crystalline polyolefin, (b) 1 to 500 parts by weight of a vinyl monomer per 100 parts by weight of the crystalline polyolefin, and (c) 0.01 to 10 parts by weight of a radical polymerization initiator per 100 parts by weight of the vinyl monomer by impregnating the crystalline polyolefin (a) with the vinyl monomer (b) and heating the aqueous suspension to polymerize the vinyl monomer (b) at a temperature equal to or higher than a temperature at which the crystal region of the polyolefin (a) begins to substantially melt, which has an excellent effect of improving processability of other polyolefins and provides a polyolefin composition having excellent properties such as processability, impact resistance, rigidity and surface properties when the modified polyolefin is incorporated into polyolefins optionally with a core-shell graft copolymer and/or an inorganic filler.

    摘要: An apparatus for evaluating the characteristics of a photosensitive drum for use in electrophotography including a rotatable photosensitive drum having characteristics to be measured, a charging portion and an exposure light source portion and the like respectively secured to portions adjacent to the photosensitive drum. The surface potential of the photosensitive drum, which is generated due to operation of the charging portion and the exposure light source portion or the like, is measured by a potential measuring probe which is, together with the charged portion and the exposure light source portion and the like, secured adjacent to a position of the photosensitive drum, at which light is applied at the shortest distance from the exposure light source portion. The photosensitive drum is moved along its lengthwise direction so that the surface potential of the photosensitive drum is measured by the potential measuring probe.

    摘要: A prior simulation of a velocity field and a temperature field is carried out, and snapshot data of the velocity field and that of the temperature field are collected during the prior simulation. Then principal component analysis on the collected snapshot data obtains velocity-field and temperature field dimension transformation matrixes, on the based on which the analysis models of the velocity field and temperature field having respective first degrees of freedom are converted into reduced degree-of-freedom models. Consequently, a simulation of the velocity field and the temperature field is carried out using models having respective reduced degrees of freedom (i.e., second degrees of freedom).
