In this way, the ink drops are discharged on the area where print defects are caused because the area is not on the paths of the discharge nozzles before the discharge nozzles are minutely moved.

A print method that prints visible information by ejecting ink droplets from a print head onto a printed object rotated by a rotational driving unit is provided. The print method includes the steps of: carrying out impact position correction that corrects displacements in impact positions of the ink droplets to convert the visible information to impact position-corrected polar coordinate data when converting the visible information from biaxial perpendicular coordinate data to polar coordinate data; generating ink ejection data based on the impact position-corrected polar coordinate data; and printing the visible information by ejecting the ink droplets onto the printed object based on the ink ejection data.

A high-throughput in situ hybridization system was applied to the mouse foot pad epidermis to identify novel genes involved in epidermal differentiation. As a result, epidermal expression patterns were detected for about 100 unique mRNAs. Of these, two novel secreted proteins, dermokine-α and -β, which are expressed in the suprabasal layer of the differentiated epithelia, were successfully identified. Further, the gene encoding the above proteins was found to constitute a novel gene complex (SSC).

In the process of generating ZO-1 gene knockout mice, the present inventors developed gene targeting vectors that allow homologous recombination to occur at a high probability (90% or more). In addition, the present inventors used the targeting vectors for studying optimal electroporation conditions in epithelial cells, and as a result, successfully determined optimal electroporation conditions that would enable efficient gene targeting in the EpH4 mouse epithelial cell line. Use of the vectors of the present invention enables easy introduction of exogenous genes into the ZO-1 allele of ES cells. Moreover, since effects on the genomic structure need not be considered, the methods of the present invention are expected to solve problems encountered in the conventional methods for generating transgenic mice and stable transformants.

An electrochemical display apparatus in which simple matrix driving is realized, whereby apparatus constitution can be simplified, and the price of the apparatus can be lowered. The electrochemical display apparatus performs display by use of electrochemical deposition/dissolution of a metal. The display apparatus is driven by a simple matrix driving system, in which a deposition overvoltage at the time of deposition of metallic ions as the metal is used as a threshold in the simple matrix driving. A driving voltage is set to be not more than two times the deposition overvoltage. The electrochemical display apparatus includes transparent electrodes and counter electrodes, the display is performed by utilizing deposition/dissolution of the metal on the transparent electrodes, and the potential difference between the metal to be deposited on the transparent electrodes and the counter electrodes is set to be less than the deposition overvoltage. Ideally, the same metal as the metal which is deposited is used for constituting the counter electrodes.

An ignition system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The ignition system includes a timing signal detector responsive to the rotation speed of an engine to generate a pulse signal including a leading edge and a trailing edge corresponding to the ignition timing and having a predetermined duty cycle, a triangular wave generator for generating a triangular wave voltage synchronized with the trailing edge of the pulse signal, a voltage storing circuit for storing the voltage level of the triangular wave voltage in synchronism with the leading edge of the pulse signal, a voltage divider for dividing the stored voltage in the voltage storing circuit to generate a reference voltage, a comparator for comparing the reference voltage and the triangular wave voltage to detect a difference therebetween, a charging and discharging controller for correcting the stored voltage in the voltage storing circuit so as to reduce to zero the difference at the leading edge of the pulse signal, a threshold voltage generator for generating a threshold voltage which is offset from the stored voltage by an amount corresponding to the desired dwell time of an ignition coil, and an energization controller for controlling the dwell time of the ignition coil in accordance with the result of a comparison between the threshold voltage and the triangular wave voltage.
