Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to the field of anti-infective, anti-proliferative, anti-inflammatory, and prokinetic agents. More particularly, the invention relates to a family of compounds having both a biaryl moiety and at least one heterocylic moiety that are useful as such agents.
Abstract:
A self-oscillation DC-DC converter circuit which includes a first transistor electrically connected to an input positive terminal, a second transistor electrically connected to the first transistor and operable to pass a portion of a base current of the first transistor, and a circuit to steady the output voltage electrically connected between the second transistor and an output positive terminal. The output negative terminal is connected directly to the input negative terminal. The self-oscillation DC-DC converter circuit does not use an auxiliary turn, thereby allowing the use of NPN transistors. Positive feedback is achieved by a voltage change Vce1 of the first transistor from a saturation state to a non-saturation state. In the non-saturation state, the second transistor is turned on, the first transistor is turned off and self-oscillation is achieved. With this construction, the self-oscillation DC-DC converter operates normally when the input voltage is lower than 5Vdc.
Abstract:
Disclosed are novel naphthostyrils of formula These compounds inhibit cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), in particular CDK2. These compounds and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and esters are anti-proliferative agents useful in the treatment or control of cell proliferative disorders, in particular cancer. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds, methods for the treatment and/or prevention of cancer using such compositions, and intermediates useful in the preparation of the compounds of formula I.

Abstract:
Imaging spectrometers can be used to generate hyperspectral images for medical diagnoses, contaminant detection, and food safety inspections, among other applications. An exemplary imaging spectrometer includes an integrated position sensing array that measures the relative positions of the interferometer components based on an interference pattern generated by illuminating the interferometer with a reference beam. Such an imaging spectrometer includes a processor that controls the interferometer component position by actuating a voice coil and several piezo-electric elements to align the components with respect to each other and to provide a desired optical path length mismatch between the interferometer arms. In some cases, the processor may use feedback and feed forward control, possibly based on the actuators' transfer functions, for more precise positioning. The processor may also implement adaptive and recursive spectral sampling to reduce the image acquisition period.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for preparing a compound represented by Formula I or a salt thereof, wherein Coleophoma empetri F-11899 (FERM BP2635) and/or a mutant strain thereof is cultured in a medium containing amino acid or a salt thereof, an insoluble organic source, and a sugar alcohol, to produce the compound of Formula I or a salt thereof.

The present invention is directed to pharmaceutical compositions comprising: (a) a cyclopolysaccharide and (b) a compound of Formula (I) or its pharmaceutical acceptable salt: wherein X1, X2, Q, Z, and m are defined herein. Also disclosed is a method for treating a neoplastic disease or an immune disease with these compositions.
Abstract:
A method for testing the effect of a skin care product includes measuring a mechanical property of skin tissue using nonlinear stochastic system identification, applying the product to the skin, repeating the measurement of the mechanical property after the application of the product, and comparing the before and after measurements to quantify the effect of the product.Measuring the mechanical property of the skin can include placing a probe against a surface of the skin, perturbing the skin with the probe using a stochastic sequence, and measuring the response of the skin to the perturbation. Perturbing the skin can include indenting the skin with the probe, extending the skin with the probe, and sliding the probe across the skin surface. The mechanical property may be indicative of skin compliance, skin elasticity, skin stiffness, or skin damping. The mechanical property can be dependent on perturbation depth and may be measured at a plurality of anatomical locations.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an endoscope having a motorized assembly to control the distal end of an endoscope. Preferred embodiments can include disposable and reusable components. The system reduces the force need to control the tip of the endoscope and thereby reduce the risk of perforation′.
