摘要: An optical disk recording thereon compressed moving picture data and an optical disk reproduction apparatus each capable of easily effecting trick play such as high speed reproduction and a retrieval operation at a high speed. Additional information necessary for trick play is recorded in an arbitrary area of an optical disk such as a TOC (Table of Contents) or a leading sector (sector 0) of the disk, and a sector address is added to each sector. To conduct trick play, an I picture, a P picture and a B picture contained in a GOP layer inside a bit stream of compressed image data are extracted and reproduced in accordance with a reproduction speed by looking up a trick play table.

摘要: An optical disk reproducing apparatus for reproducing digital signals in the form of a data frame including a lead-in block and data blocks from an optical disk including at least first and second recording surfaces each being readable from a same side of the optical disk. The data blocks include block addresses and data, and are recorded on the first and second recording surfaces. The lead-in block is recorded at a head of the data frame and includes disk information relating to a number of data blocks recorded on the first and second recording surfaces. The apparatus includes an optical pickup, a focus control circuit, a pickup movement control circuit, a disk information detection circuit which detects disk information included in a reproduced lead-in block, a block address detection circuit which detects block addresses included in reproduced data blocks, and an access/reproduction control circuit which controls the focus control circuit and the pickup movement control circuit to access the first and second recording surfaces and reproduce data blocks recorded thereon. The access/reproduction control circuit controls the focus control circuit to perform focus changing of the optical pickup to access the first and second recording surfaces in accordance with block addresses of data blocks to be reproduced and the detected disk information.

摘要: A flow cell 2, a composite lens 15, and first to third detectors 16 to 18 are arranged in this sequence in the light pathway of light emitted from a laser light source 1. The composite lens 15 is configured by a convex lens 15a, and lens elements 15b and 15c. These lenses have different focal lengths. When the posture of the composite lens is correct, light impinging on the convex lens forms an image on the first detector. Therefore, the positioning of the composite lens is enabled. When particles in the flow cell are irradiated with laser light, forward scatter is produced. Forward small angle scatter having a small scattering angle impinges on the first lens element 15b to be collected thereby, and is then received by the second detector 17. Forward large angle scatter having a large scattering angle impinges on the second lens element 15c in the outermost periphery to be collected thereby, and is then received by the third detector 18 which is remotest from the composite lens.

摘要: A structure for arrangement of an occupant protective apparatus for a vehicle includes: an inflator disposed at a predetermined position of a vehicle body and adapted to eject a gas at a time of a side collision when a high load is applied to a side of the vehicle body; a bag stored in a folded state in such a manner as to extend between a front pillar and a roof side rail and adapted to be inflated in a shape of a curtain below the roof side rail in a vehicle compartment by a gas supplied from the inflator, the bag being disposed in a space formed between a body panel and an interior member disposed on an inner side of the vehicle compartment with a predetermined interval with the body panel; and an energy absorbing member provided in the space and disposed in close proximity to the bag so as to absorb an impact from the inner side of the vehicle compartment.

摘要: A semiconductor laser includes a lower cladding layer, an active layer, a first upper cladding layer, an etch-stopping layer, a second upper cladding layer, and a contact layer successively laminated on a substrate, a ridge waveguide formed by selectively etching the second upper cladding layer and the contact layer with the use of a stripe-like insulating film as a mask to form a ridge, an AlAs oxide layer on the substrate and a second electrode on the substrate. Incorrect positioning does not occur between the ridge waveguide and a first electrode, reliability is improved, and the distribution of effective refractive index transverse to the resonation of the laser is reduced. A detailed method of fabricating this semiconductor laser is also provided.
