摘要: A patient-specific alignment guide for an orthopedic implant. The alignment guide can include a body having first and second opposing surfaces, the second surface adapted for positioning over a skin surface, and at least one extension extending from the second surface body. The extension has a distal end defining a patient-specific end surface that is mateable in form-fitting manner with a subcutaneous portion of the patient's anatomy, and at least one guiding passage extending between the first surface of the body and the distal end of the extension.

摘要: A bone screw anchor capable of securely fastening a fixation device to weak or brittle bone. The anchor includes a distal region terminating in an open aperture or a solid tapered terminus. The distal region may include cutting flutes and a helical thread extending through an intermediate region, so as to make the anchor self-cutting. The proximal region has a receptor for receiving a driver for driving the anchor within a bore or hole within the bone. The anchor has an interior bore with internal threads for receiving a bone screw used to secure a fixation device to the anchor. The bore may have a plurality of ports providing passage to the exterior of the anchor. Once seated entirely within the receptor, the anchor's position is secured using bone cement. Bone cement is delivered to the bore or hole before the anchor is placed in the receptor or after via the ports.

摘要: A method and apparatus for repairing a cavity in bone may can include a longitudinal shaft having a distal end and a proximal end. A cutting tool can be selectively attachable to the distal end. A one-piece guide can have a body defining an opening and including a locator member extending therefrom. The locator member can be engageable to a first portion of the bone providing a reference point relative to the cutting tool while the cutting tool engages a second portion of the bone during cutting. The body can be slidably advanced onto the longitudinal shaft through the opening from the proximal end to an operating location in an assembled position. During operation, the body can define a handle concentric with the longitudinal shaft.

摘要: A tool for use with a surgical navigation system includes a plurality of LEDs mounted to the distal end of the tool. The LED's provide an indication of the direction in which the tool must be moved to reach a desired position. Four LED's mounted along perpendicular axes are provided. Modes for indicating the desired location, orientation, rotation, and depth are provided. A mode indicator may also be provided. The tool is designed for use with a surgical navigation system which includes an infrared localizer and computer system. The indicators assist the surgeon in positioning the surgical tool in relation to the patient. Indicators other than LEDs may be used; the indicators may also be mounted in alternate locations in the operating room environment.

摘要: A vacuum package system for hydrating and/or rehydrating orthopedic graft materials, such as allograft materials, xenograft materials, and synthetic materials, is described. The system primarily includes a container, which includes a dividing device for dividing the container into first and second compartments and for isolating the compartments from one another, the first compartment containing a liquid component and the second compartment containing either dry porous and/or dehydrated orthopedic graft material under vacuum with a tubular member. The elongated tubular member extends from, and is in communication with, the second compartment. The tubular portion defines vacuum reservoir device is disposed within the first compartment and is in communication with the second compartment. The vacuum reservoir device is capable of taking up substantially all residual interstitial gases and thereby ensuring thorough infusion of the liquid component into the orthopedic graft material component upon release of the dividing device so as to form either a hydrated and/or rehydrated orthopedic graft material. An optional gas permeable but liquid impermeable membrane is disposed between the second compartment and the pocket portion.
