A method of improving the appearance of periorbital dyschromia by identifying a target portion of skin in the periorbital region of a person that exhibits periorbital dyschromia and applying a personal care composition to the target portion of skin during a treatment period. The personal care composition includes an effective amount of Type I active, an effective amount of a Type II active, and a dermatologically acceptable carrier. The treatment period is of sufficient length for at least one of the actives to improve the appearance of the periorbital dyschromia.

A method for feeding poultry is provided and includes the steps obtaining a feed supplement composition including an aqueous ethanol extract isolated from leafy parts of Amaranthus hybridus by using a mixture of water and ethanol as an extractive agent, in which mixture an amount of ethanol is within a range of 0.1-85 vol %, admixing the composition into a basal poultry feed or drinking water in a predetermined amount of at least 0.003 g/kg, and administering the resulting mixture to poultry in accordance with predetermined dosage regimen. The composition may be also utilized as a phytogenic feed supplement for poultry, depending on dosage regime, administration duration, and on age and category of poultry stock.

This invention is related to a method of preparing a fermented crude extract having angiotensin converting enzyme inhibiting activity. The method comprises the following steps. A material is dried, milled, and then mixed with water in a weight ratio of 1:11 to form a mixture solution. 0.1 vol % α-amylase is used to perform hydrolysis at 95° C. for 1 hour. 0.1 vol % glucoamylase is used to perform hydrolysis at 65° C. for 4 hours. A lactic acid bacterium is added in a culture medium containing the mixture solution to perform fermentation for 24 hours. The culture medium is centrifuged to take the supernatant thereof, and the supernatant is boiled for 20 minutes. The supernatant is filtered to obtain a fermented crude extract having angiotensin converting enzyme inhibiting activity.
