    摘要: The invention comprises a positive fluid displacement apparatus of the scroll type described as a fluid compressor in the exemplary embodiment. The embodiment has single fixed and movable scroll elements in which the latter orbits the former to form variable volume pockets which move from an inlet to an outlet and means are provided for discharging fluid from at least one of the pockets prior to its movement to the outlet port, cooling the vented fluid and returning it to the apparatus for final compression and discharge. Accordingly, by this arrangement, two stages of compression with intercooling are provided in a single apparatus having only a single fixed scroll element and a single movable scroll element.

    摘要: A heat engine employs counterrotating rotors disposed in different cavities of a stator. The engine provides a heat recuperator which removes heat from working medium confined in a rotating constant volume chamber in one cavity and utilizes that heat to heat working medium confined in a rotating constant volume chamber in another cavity. Each rotor carries partitions forming separate chambers in its cavity and each cavity has a blocking means which permits the partitions to pass but prevents working medium from making a complete orbit in the cavity whereby the working medium is caused to flow from one cavity to another through ducts disposed near the blocking means.

    摘要: A compound cycle engine having a rotary internal combustion engine, a first turbine, and a second turbine is discussed. The exhaust port of the internal combustion engine is in fluid communication with the flowpath of the first turbine upstream of its rotor. The rotors of the first turbine and of each rotary unit drive a common load. The inlet of the second turbine is in fluid communication with the flowpath of the first turbine downstream of its rotor. The first turbine is configured as a velocity turbine and the first turbine has a pressure ratio smaller than that of the second turbine. A method of compounding a rotary engine is also discussed.
