摘要:
An underwater wave energy converter (WEC) (10) has a piston (32) that reciprocates up and down as recurring waves (22) pass over. Downward motion of the piston (32) drives the rods or plungers (50b) of a multiplicity of hydraulic jacks (50) to pressurize hydraulic fluid in an energy conversion system. Ultimately, the energy conversion system powers one or more hydraulic motors (511, 512) that drive an electric generator (510) or multiple generators. A sensor system (25) detects characteristics of in-coming waves such as by detecting changes in pressure as in-coming waves (22) pass over the sensor system (25). The sensors can be mounted on the ocean floor seaward from the WECs (10), and a control computer system (231) calculates characteristics of the in-coming waves such as wave height and speed data, and uses the data to control aspects of the WECs (10) and other components of the energy conversion system.

The stability and power conversion efficiency of a wave energy converter (WEC) which includes a float, a spar and a power taken device (PTO) connected between the spar and the float is increased by connecting a heave plate to the spar in a very secure manner and by carefully limiting the movement between the float and spar to one direction (i.e., up-down motion). Buoyancy chambers may be attached to the WEC to facilitate its transportation and deployment. The WEC may be formed in sections and assembled at, or close to, the point of deployment.

A wave energy converter for compressing air from the movement of waves of a body of water is provided. The wave energy converter includes a middle cylinder upon which an upper cylinder slides thereon and in which a lower cylinder slides therewithin. An upper and lower compression chamber disposed within the upper and lower cylinders allows air to be drawn therewithin and compressed when the upper and lower cylinders are moved relative to the middle cylinder as waves progress through their wavelength from crest to trough and vice versa.

A wave energy harvester (100A) includes an element (120A) that converts forward and/or backward of water in a wave (102A, B, C) passing the harvester (100A) into upward and/or downward movement to thereby increase the vertical amplitude of the harvester (100A) relative to the sea floor (104A, B, C). In most preferred aspects, the element (120A) is a hydrofoil that is coupled to the harvester (100A). Further preferred aspects include those in which part of, or the entire harvester (100A) has a neutral buoyancy, and where energy is extracted from the downwards movement of the neutrally buoyant part (100A) after a wave has lifted that part (110A).

A device (1) making it possible to convert the undulation and/or the oscillations of a liquid in which it is at least partially immersed into usable energy. The device (1) includes a float (3) guided by a guide device (2) anchored in the sea bed, with the aid of guide element (12) and including conversion element making it possible to convert the relative movements between the float (3) and the guide device (2) into usable energy such as electric energy.

A wave energy converting apparatus 44 and its associated tension mooring system 50 is described. The wave energy converting apparatus 44 comprises an elongate support structure 45 designed to extend above a mean water level in the ocean. The support structure 45 has a submerged member 46 provided in connection therewith below the mean water level. A float member 48 of positive buoyancy is slidably mounted on the support structure 45 so as to be movable in a vertical direction. The apparatus 44 also comprises a linear electric generator 49 having a stator provided in connection with the support structure 45 and a translator integrated into the body of the float member 48. Differential motion of the float member 48 relative to the support structure 45 results in the generation of electrical power by the linear electric generator 49. The tension mooring system 50 comprises a cable 51 extending from a ballast means 52 to a counterbalancing means 53 adapted to be suspended from the submerged member 46 via a pulley mechanism 54. The tension mooring system 50 allows the apparatus 44 to be “tuned” to the prevailing ocean conditions.

This invention relates to a wave power generating device, comprising a lifting pillar installed on a floating platform, a sleeve covered outside said lifting pillar and two groups of ratchet wheel mechanisms installed on said sleeve; wherein the inner wheel of each of said ratchet wheel mechanisms rotates with the sleeve, the outer wheel of each of said ratchet wheel mechanisms drives a corresponding power generator to generate power; and the first outer wheel in the first group of ratchet wheel mechanism rotates with a first inner wheel along the first direction when the lifting pillar is rising, while the second outer wheel in the second group of ratchet wheel mechanism rotates with the second inner wheel along the second direction when the lifting pillar is falling. The wave power generating device of the invention has advantages of simple structure, low loss, and high power efficiency, and may transport much power energy for various uses.

The invention relates to a generator, to a magnetic flux conducting unit for a generator, and to a power generation machine comprising such a generator. In an embodiment of the invention, a generator is disclosed which comprises at least one coil assembly and at least one magnetic flux conducting unit. The magnetic flux conducting unit comprises at least one magnet, a pair of opposed magnetic flux conducting elements defining a space therebetween for receiving the coil assembly, and at least one connection portion extending between the opposed magnetic flux conducting elements. The at least is arranged relative to the opposed magnetic flux conducting elements such that the magnetic attraction forces between the elements are redacted through and balances with the connection portion.

A system is described for converting the energy contained in each ocean wave into mechanical energy used to drive an electric generator. The system is built around a large weight that sits atop an air-filled raft inside a chamber that is partly open to the ocean on one side. Water from each incoming wave pushes the raft upward in the chamber. As the water level subsides, the weight exerts a pulling force onto a gear system that in turn drives a standard electrical generator. The system is simple in design, it is highly scalable and inexpensive to construct with off-the-shelve components and building materials.

A WEC system embodying the invention includes a column and shell, arranged to move relative to each other, and a lever-like apparatus having an input end and an output end and an intermediate point, between the two ends, the intermediate point being rotatably connected to the column. The input end is connected to the shell and moves at the same velocity and in the same direction as the shell. The output end moves in the opposite direction and at a rate which is a multiple of the shell velocity. The multiple being a function of the ratio of the length of the intermediate point to the output and input ends. In systems embodying the invention, one of two components (a PMA or an ICA) of a linear electric generator may be attached to the shell and the other of the two components may be attached to the output end of the lever-like apparatus to produce high relative velocity between the two components resulting in higher amplitude and higher frequency output voltages.
