Abstract: A vehicle battery protection structure includes a vehicle frame member, a first duct, and a second duct. The vehicle frame member is disposed in a region including a battery. The vehicle frame member has a through hole. The battery is mountable on a vehicle. The first duct is disposed on an outside of the battery at a location oriented toward an outside of the vehicle. The second duct is inserted through the through hole of the vehicle frame member. The second duct is disposed to overlap the first duct in a vertical direction of the first duct on the outside of the battery at the location oriented toward the outside of the vehicle.

Abstract: Traction battery packs are disclosed that include cell-to-pack battery systems. A cell matrix of the cell-to-pack battery system may be positioned within an enclosure assembly of the traction battery pack. The enclosure assembly may include one or more multi-layered structures. Each multi-layered structure may include a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber provides an internal cooling circuit for thermally managing the cell matrix, and the second chamber provides an air gap for insulating the cell matrix from an exterior environment.

Abstract: A battery cell that includes a plurality of anodes and a plurality of cathodes is provided. The battery cell has a pouch laminate disposed over the plurality of anodes and the plurality of cathodes along with a temperature control mechanism centrally located within the pouch laminate. The temperature control mechanism is disposed between anodes of the plurality of anodes and cathodes of the plurality of cathodes such that the temperature control mechanism is centrally located within battery cell. The temperature control mechanism can regulate a temperature of the battery cell while also regulate an amount of pressure applied to the plurality of anodes and cathodes. The temperature control mechanism can include passageways through which heat transfer fluid can pass that be used to regulate the temperature and the pressure.

Abstract: A method for forming a hybrid heat exchanger is provided. The method includes laser-texturing a metal surface to create a plurality of microstructures and subsequently melt-bonding a plastic component to the plurality of microstructures. During melt-bonding, plastic material penetrates the plurality of microstructures and conforms to the plastic component to the metal surface. After hardening inside the microstructures, the plastic component adheres to the metal surface as a hybrid component. As a result, a fastener or snap connection is not required, and the plastic-metal joint provides a barrier to water, glycol-based fluids, air, and other fluids.

The cooling plate includes a first portion facing the inner space and a second portion protruding on an outer side with respect to the side surface portion of the case member. The entrance portion and the exit portion for the coolant are connected to the second portion.
