Abstract: A method and apparatus for spatter painting wherein an open-loop paint applicator which can be a paint roller cover having a set of elongated interconnected members or fibers that are rolled in a shallow layer of paint, preferably a thixotropic paint, to randomly draw paint from the paint reservoirs onto peripheral portions of the open-loop members that extend into the paint reservoir to produce a partially loaded paint roller cover having randomly spaced globules and droplets of paint thereon. When the partially loaded paint roller cover is rolled over a surface the paint globules and droplets located in a random pattern on the paint roller cover are transferred to a surface to produce a nullspatter effectnull even though the paint roller cover normally produces a textured surface.

Abstract: A coating device is provided which has a bar which coats a coating liquid on a strip-shaped body conveyed in a given direction, and a dam-shaped member disposed at an upstream side of the bar so as to face the bar. Also provided is a coating method which, in the coating device, supplies the coating liquid from between the dam-shaped member and the bar so as to carry out coating. A flow rate of the coating liquid passing through a gap between the strip-shaped body and the dam-shaped member is set to be 3 m/min or more. A flow rate of the coating liquid passing through a gap between the bar and the dam-shaped member is set to be 5 mm/sec or more.

Abstract: A grout sealer applicator increases efficiency in applying sealer to grout. A strip or patch of material for releasably holding sealer is adapted to be held on a finger. For example, the material is bonded to a rubber or plastic sleeve. As another example, the material forms a band around a finger.

Abstract: In a device for depositing coating material with the manufacture of coated and/or impregnated sheet formations the thickness of the coated sheet formation is monitored with two metering rollers (11, 13) rotating against the sheet formation. The distance measurement between the contact surfaces (12, 14) of the metering rollers (11, 13) is carried out by way of measuring surfaces (16, 18) concentric to the metering rollers (11, 3) which have a smaller diameter (d1) than the contact surfaces (12, 14).

Abstract: An apparatus and method for applying a fluid to the through holes, vias, or other recesses of a printed wiring board is disclosed. The apparatus is a roller assembly. The roller comprises a cover and an interior portion and is supported by a mounting. A fluid supply provides treatment fluid to the interior portion. A feed transports a board into contact with the roller. The method is carried out by transporting fluid to the interior portion of the roller. The fluid then passes from the interior portion to the cover. A board is transported into contact with the roller assembly. Upon contact with a board, the roller cover deforms so that it distributes fluid across the board and pushes the fluid into the board's recesses. The roller assembly quickly receives and coats printed wiring boards while penetrating and coating recesses with high aspect ratios using minimal amounts of treatment fluid.

Abstract: A system and method for painting decorative designs. According to a preferred embodiment, the invention comprises an imprint applicator handle including a handle member and imprint applicator, the latter preferably comprising a generally rectangular, arcuate member formed from a clear or non-opaque material. The imprint applicator defines an arcuate application surface to which a rubber stamp design may be detachably fastened. The rubber stamp design is adapted to receive a pigment, which may be a paint, ink, or dye and when rocked across a substrate, such as a wall, paper and the like, via the imprint applicator handle, the pigment is caused to transfer from the rubber stamp design to the substrate. Advantageously, the present invention enables a wide variety of designs to be easily and neatly formed, as well as capable of being faithfully duplicated.

Abstract: A system for patching a destination surface to match an existing texture pattern. The system comprises texture material, a tube member, and a sponge member. The texture material comprises a base, a carrier, and particulate material. The tube member contains the texture material and defines a container opening through which the texture material may flow. The sponge member defines an applicator surface and a sponge opening. The sponge member is secured relative to the tube member, and the texture material is forced out of the tube member through the container opening and the sponge opening and onto the applicator surface. The applicator surface of the sponge member is brought into contact with the destination surface to transfer texture material on the applicator surface to the destination surface.
