摘要: The disclosure provides for methods for monitoring mucosal healing in a patient with a digestive disease, or for use in a pre-disease state, and includes intestinal as well as extra-intestinal disorders in which gut permeability is increased. The method may include establishing a baseline of the patient, treating the patient for the digestive disease or the pre-disease state, measuring gut permeability of the patient after treatment, and comparing a second total percentage of the administered dose recovered to the baseline total percentage of the administered dose recovered. Establishing the baseline may include enterally administering a first dosage of a composition comprising a fluorescent tracer, measuring a first amount of the administered dose that can be found outside the gut over a period of time, and determining a baseline total percentage of the administered dose recovered. Measuring gut permeability may include enterally administering a second dosage of the composition, measuring a second amount of the administered dose, and determining a second total percentage of the administered dose recovered.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a non-transitory computer-readable media having computer-executable instructions thereon. When executed by the processor of a mobile computing device, the computer-executable instructions cause the processor to wirelessly communicatively couple the mobile computing device to a GI sensor (optionally by displaying instructions on a pairing screen), display a sensor placement screen that instructs the user to place the GI sensor on a body of a patient, prompts the user to administer a GI agent into the body of the patient; transmit a signal from the mobile computing device to the GI sensor to cause the GI sensor to initiate collection of light absorbance data for calculating GI function of the patient; receive light absorbance data from the GI sensor, and store the received light absorbance data.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for determining an organ function in a subject, comprising the steps of: providing a first concentration-time curve obtained by transcutaneously measuring in a body fluid at a first position background fluorescence in at least one first time point and fluorescence of an indicator compound in at least a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth, and a sixth time point; providing a second concentration curve obtained by transcutaneously measuring in a body fluid at a second position background fluorescence in at least one seventh time point and fluorescence of an indicator compound in at least a eighth, a ninth, a tenth, an eleventh, and a twelfth time point; fitting the first and the second concentration curve into a kinetic model representing at least four diffusion compartments; and thereby determining an organ function in a subject. The invention further relates to a device for determining an organ function according to the method of the present invention, said device comprising a first sensor for transcutaneously measuring fluorescence of an indicator at a first position, a second sensor for transcutaneously measuring fluorescence of an indicator at a second position; and a data processing unit for fitting the values obtained by the sensors into a kinetic model of one of the preceding claims. The present invention also relates to a kit comprising a device of the present invention and an indicator compound, as well as to a computer or computer network comprising at least one processor, wherein the computer or computer network is adapted to perform the method according to the present invention.

摘要: The present invention provides tissue sealant compositions and vasculature closure devices useful for the optical detection of tissue seal and/or clot formation. Compositions and devices of the present invention comprise optical dyes which undergo an observable change as the compositions and/or devices are incorporated into a tissue seal and/or clot, for example a change in fluorescence quantum yield and/or a change in visual color including a change in emission and/or absorption wavelength. Tissue sealants and vasculature closure devices of the present invention are useful for visualizing seal and/or clot formation, for example, during or after surgical procedures, after catheter removal, etc. The present invention further provides methods for formation and optical detection of tissue seals or vasculature puncture closures as well as medical kits useful for the formation and optical detection of tissue seals or vasculature puncture closures.
