摘要: A method for aquatic microplastic identification is provided. The method includes steps as follows: emitting a laser beam from a laser source, such that the laser beam passes through a liquid sample with MP samples in a sample channel and then a polarizer and is received by polarization camera; capturing a sample image of the MP samples by the polarization camera, wherein the sample image comprises interference patterns resulting from superposition of object and reference waves; and feeding the interference patterns into a morphology analyzing module for real-time tracking and analyzing by using a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN) model, so as to classify the MP samples.

摘要: A smart skin system includes tactile sensors that mimic the functions of human skin by sensing pressure, vibration and humidity simultaneously and generate electric signals as a result thereof; and a machine learning assisted data processor that interprets the electric signals from the sensors and quantitively perceives the stimulation in terms of pressure, vibration, and environmental humidity. The sensor structurally comprises (1) a single-ion conducting electrolyte, which provides contact electrification, serves as a hygroscopic layer and produces DC hygroelectric signals in response to humidity, (2) a gold electrode and (3) a separatable aluminum electrode as a counter triboelectrification layer that produces AC triboelectric signals in response to contact.

摘要: ROS-responsive prodrugs and methods of making thereof are disclosed. These prodrugs can contain two captopril moieties and one cinnamaldehyde moiety that are linked by a thioacetal linking moiety; upon cleavage of the thioacetal linking moiety by ROS, the prodrugs can release two captopril or captopril derivatives and one cinnamaldehyde or cinnamaldehyde derivative. Pharmaceutical formulations in a unit dosage form suitable for the delivery of the prodrugs to a subject in need thereof are disclosed. The pharmaceutical formulations may include one or more additional anti-inflammatory active agents in their free form. The pharmaceutical formulation can be administered by oral administration, parenteral administration, inhalation, mucosal administration, or a combination thereof. Methods for preventing or treating an inflammatory disease or disorder, or treating or ameliorating one or more symptoms associated with an inflammatory disease or disorder in a subject are also disclosed. The inflammatory disease or disorder can be rheumatoid arthritis.

摘要: An electroconductive hydrogel is formed by hybrid assembly of polymeric nanofiber networks of conducting polymers that self-organize into highly connected 3D nanostructures with an ultralow threshold (˜1 wt %) for electrical percolation. A method for forming the electroconductive hydrogel comprises the steps of: dispersing aramid nanofibers (ANFs) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO); conducting a solvent exchange with water to generate hydrogels with connective 3D fibrillar networks that serve as templates for the assembly of conducting polymers; incorporating polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) during the processing of the hydrogels to weld the fibrillar joints via hydrogen bonding; infiltrating monomers into the nano-porous hydrogels in an aqueous media; and polymerizing the hydrogels with added oxidants.

摘要: A strong and ductile automotive steel comprising 8-11 wt. % Mn, 0.1-0.35 wt. % C, 1-3 wt. % Al, 0.05-0.5 wt. % V, and a balance of Fe. By tuning the amount of austenite stabilizers, a dual phase microstructure of martensite and austenite with proper phase fraction can be achieved at room temperature. The martensite partitions C into the retained austenite grains. The martensite matrix can ensure the higher strength of automotive steel while the retained austenite grains with varied mechanical stability can improve the ductility of automotive steel, achieving the strength of 1500 MPa and the ductility of 20% simultaneously. The method for fabricating this automotive steel circumvents the high quenching temperature of conventional Q&P steels and therefore reduces the production price and is easy for mass production.

摘要: A bioassay, which is a segregative phase separation system (SPSS) where a bioassay signal intensifier is presented. The bioassay signal intensifier is an aqueous two-phase system (ATPS) component that causes the signal to intensify in one aqueous phase of a plurality of phases formed from the bioassay composition. The source of the signal resulting from the inclusion of a test sample is selectively partitioned into one phase that can be of significantly lesser volume than in the bioassay absent the bioassay signal intensifier, such the signal's source is concentrated in that phase, and the signal is intensified.

摘要: The subject invention pertains to a new class of compounds, N-acryloylindole (NAIs), and methods of using NAIs as cysteine-reactive probes for proteome-wide cysteine profiling and imaging of thiol oxidative modifications. NAIs are capable of imaging oxidized thiols in cells facing oxidative stress by confocal fluorescence microscopy. NAIs can capture populations of cysteines, particularly those involved in gene expression and regulation.
