摘要： A necked-in and flange portion is formed in the open end of a seamless can body by using a can end holder driven for rotation about its axis, an axially movable inner roll of a reduced diameter disposed adjacent the can end holder, and a spinning roll positioned axially stationary outside the can body. While the can body with the open end telescoped onto the can end holder and in contact with the inner roll is rotated together with the can end holder, the spinning roll is advanced toward the can end holder and forced into the open end, and simultaneously the can body is moved in an axial direction away from the can end holder together with the inner roll, to form the necked-in and flange portion.

摘要： A device for feeding electric power to a roll-like revolving electrode in an electrical resistance welding machine includes a feeder rotor provided in a shaft formed integrally with a revolving electrode and a feeder plate extending in the moving direction of the revolving electrode and disposed in contact with the periphery of the feeder rotor. The periphery of the feeder rotor is electrically coupled to the electrode surface of the revolving electrode, and the feeder plate is connected to a power supply. Consequently, the electrode surface of the revolving electrode is electrically coupled to the power supply.

摘要： An ironing apparatus for forming a cup-like metallic article such as an one-piece metallic can body is provided. The apparatus comprises a punch provided on a tip of a ram adapted to reciprocate in the horizontal direction and a plurality of ring dies cooperating with the punch. In the apparatus, the punch reciprocates such that the center of the end face thereof moves along a locus curved downwardly with the gravity, and the die is disposed to be slightly inclined with respect to a vertical plane such that the axis of the die extends substantially in the tangential direction of the locus at the location of the die.

摘要： A method of manufacturing a welded can body from tinplate or a tin-iron alloy plated steel sheet comprises overlapping the opposite marginal portions of a blank of the tinplate or the tin-iron plated steel sheet to form a can body preform having an overlapping portion, applying at least to the cut edges of the marginal portions of the blank a fluxing agent promoting wetting of steel with molten tin, and electrical resistance seam welding the overlapping portion in a nonoxidizing atmosphere by employing a pair of wire electrodes each covered by a layer of metallic tin on the surface thereof facing the overlapping portion. The welded portion has improved corrosion resistance, as an extruded weld portion and a remaining cut edge surface portion thereof are covered with tin transferred from the surfaces of the wire electrodes and/or the tinplate during the welding operation.

The blank which is cut at a blanking station is placed on a movable die, and drawn to a container body at a drawing station. The container body engaged with the movable die is filled with a content at a filling station, and then hermetically sealed with a lid member at a sealing station. This process and apparatus are especially suitable for a blank made of a flexible material.
