    摘要: A containment boom system for remediating an oil spill in a body of water includes a base support structure and two spaced apart containment booms defining a channel therebetween. An elongated rod has a proximal end and a spaced apart distal end. The proximal end is hingedly attached to the base support structure and extends laterally therefrom. A buoy is coupled to the distal end of the elongated rod. The buoy has sufficient buoyancy so as to remain floating on the liquid body while supporting the elongated rod. A reclamation loop is disposed in the water, a first portion of which is disposed in the oil spill and a second portion is disposed in the channel. The reclamation loop is continuously driven through a reclamation station, which removes oil therefrom.

    摘要: A method and a system for the enhancement of the sensitivity in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors based metallic grating by exploiting the conical configuration is presented. We consider the propagation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) excited by light from the visible to infrared spectrum range, incident on a plasmonic grating at different directions by varying both the zenith and azimuthal angles. For specific azimuthal angles, SPPs propagate in the grating plane perpendicular to the incident light momentum. This is the condition that allows increasing the number of different excited SPPs modes largely. We exploit this effect to increase the sensor sensitivity with the change of refractive index of thin film on the plasmonic grating surface. Polarization effects also contribute to a further modes enhancement and increase the sensitivity. A scheme for a lab-on-chip implementation of a system that allows a parallel detection in microfluidic channels has been shown.

    摘要: An angle marking saw guide for marking a plank having a front side that includes a planar marking member including a protractor portion extending upwardly from a flat ruled straight edge portion having a straight edge. A planar reference member includes a rectangular portion a triangular portion extending laterally from the rectangular portion. The triangular portion includes a first angled edge and a second angled edge that meets the first angled edge at a vertex. The marking member is pivotally affixed to the reference member with a fastener disposed adjacent to the vertex. A vertical wall portion depends downwardly from the front edge and engages the front side of the plank so as to maintain the reference member in a fixed angular relationship with the front side. A lip surface extends at an angle from the back edge to facilitate lifting of the reference member from the plank.

An elastic cord is attached to the attachment device and is engaged with the redirecting device so that the cord extends radially away from the pole. An exercise device is affixed to the end of the cord.

    摘要: A breast prosthesis is adapted to massage a patient's chest so as to encourage circulation of interstitial lymph fluid. A breast form member has a front portion that has a shape corresponding to a human breast and a back portion. A protrusion member extends from the back portion. The protrusion member defines at least one protrusion extending outwardly therefrom. The protrusion is disposed so that when the breast prosthesis held against the patient at a preselected location, the protrusion will massage the preselected location, thereby encouraging circulation of interstitial lymph fluid.
