    摘要: An article having a surface bearing patterned indicia having micro-structures. A surface is provided with contrasting micro-structured features that form perceptible indicia or pattern having a recognizable pattern in reference to a background surface. The background surface is a micro-structured surface, on which perceptible indicia having the recognizable pattern of micro-structures are formed. The pattern of micro-structured features includes raised and/or recessed structures with respect to the substrate surface. The micro-structured surface includes irregular prisms forming structural features or topography within a plane of longitudinal rows of regular prisms. The indicia in reference to the background plane are perceivable, without requiring contrasting colors between the indicia and the background.

    摘要: An article having a surface bearing patterned indicia having micro-structures. A surface is provided with contrasting micro-structured features that form perceptible indicia or pattern having a recognizable pattern in reference to a background surface.     摘要: A method is provided for the internal processing of a transparent substrate in preparation for a cleaving step. The substrate is irradiated with a focused laser beam that is comprised of pulses having an energy and pulse duration selected to produce a filament within the substrate. The substrate is translated relative to the laser beam to irradiate the substrate and produce an additional filament at one or more additional locations. The resulting filaments form an array defining an internally scribed path for cleaving said substrate. Laser beam parameters may be varied to adjust the filament length and position, and to optionally introduce V-channels or grooves, rendering bevels to the laser-cleaved edges. Preferably, the laser pulses are delivered in a burst train for lowering the energy threshold for filament formation, increasing the filament length, thermally annealing of the filament modification zone to minimize collateral damage, improving process reproducibility, and increasing the processing speed compared with the use of low repetition rate lasers.

    摘要: A simple, fast, and reliable method and apparatus are provided for replicating a light shaping surface structure on a laminated surface of a relatively rigid substrate. More specifically, after the substrate is mounted on a table and a layer of epoxy is deposited between the substrate and a submaster to produce a layered structure, the layered structure is automatically compressed in a nip formed between the table and an outer surface of a rotating impression roller, thereby replicating the surface structure in the epoxy layer. The epoxy is then cured, and the submaster is separated from the substrate to leave a laminated structure having the light shaping surface structure on a surface thereof. Preferably, the submaster is wrapped around the impression roller, and the impression roller is rotated while the table is reciprocated linearly to compress the layered structure in the nip. In order to prevent slippage between the submaster and the substrate, the rotational speed of the impression roller is matched to the translational speed of the table during the compressing operation--preferably by using the submaster as a drive belt to drive the roller to rotate upon table movement. The replicator preferably also automatically cures the epoxy after the compressing operation and then automatically separates the submaster from the substrate.
