    Abstract: A method for attaching an object against a tire inner liner by means of an adhesive, including: applying uncured adhesive between the tire inner liner and the object; selecting at least one adhesion enhancing agent from the group: air pressure, steam, moisture, heat, radiation; adding the adhesion enhancing agent to the interior of the tire while the adhesive is in an at least partially uncured state; and curing the adhesive. Air pressurization of the tire cavity may be employed as an adhesion enhancing agent to press the object against the inner liner as the adhesive cures. The air pressure operational parameters may be predetermined and selected to complement adhesive cure properties and the air pressure of the tire cavity may be varied during at least part of the adhesive cure cycle. The adhesive may be a layer of rubber patch material.

    Abstract: A bond of a rubbery component to a virgin surface of a tire's cured innerliner which virgin surface has never been contaminated by the remnants of a release agent left after buffing with a wire brush and solvent-cleaning the cured innerliner, is unexpectedly stronger than a bond of the component to the contaminated but “cleaned surface”, cleaned as indicated. As an alternative, buffing with a wire brush results in a textured surface that impairs adhesion of a balance pad. Therefore, a pneumatic tire is provided with a virgin surface protected against contamination by a release agent at the curing temperature of the tire; protection is provided by a self-supporting barrier film of sulfur non-vulcanizable, expandable, thermoformable synthetic resinous material; and, a method is provided for maintaining a virgin cured surface within all or part of either the exterior or interior of a pneumatic tire's rubber carcass which is conventionally cured. The barrier film which is substantially inextensible at ambient temperature, is removable without tearing into pieces from the protected surface of the cured tire. When the interior surface is provided by an innerliner, any component to be included within the interior of the carcass may be adhesively secured to the virgin surface of the innerliner more securely than has been heretofore possible.

    Abstract: An integrated tire monitoring system for an agricultural vehicle control system comprises at lease one sensor integrally coupled to at least one tire on a farm vehicle; an external reader for obtaining tire revolution speed data from the sensor during each revolution of the tire; input means for delivering the tire revolution speed data to a vehicle control unit, the vehicle control unit calculating vehicle speed based on the inputted tire revolution speed data and outputting at least one control signal. The reader may input tire pressure data from the sensor into the vehicle control unit for the calculation of pressure adjusted vehicle speed. The sensor may store tire specific identification data accessible by the external reader and one or more control signals from the vehicle ECU may be used to control speed between a plurality of vehicle wheels; engine speed; wheel slippage; and/or tire air pressure. The vehicle control unit may further evaluate work efficacy of the vehicle based upon the calculated vehicle speed and communicate display data of the results to an operator of the vehicle.
