摘要: A cementitious composition is provided that comprises an effective amount of bottom ash and an effective amount of cement. In one embodiment, a structural product formed from mixing the composition with an effective amount of water has a seven-day compressive strength of at least about 2,500 psi and, more preferably, a seven-day compressive strength of at least about 4,000 psi. In another embodiment, a structural product formed from mixing the composition with an effective amount of water has a twenty-eight-day compressive strength of at least about 4,000 psi and, more preferably, a twenty-eight-day compressive strength of at least about 5,000 psi.

摘要: A low-cost detector of hydrogen-containing compounds in gas or thin-film samples is disclosed. The device preferably includes an alpha particle source, an energy degrading medium, a charged particle detector (e.g. a solid state diode detector), and amplification, threshold, counting, logic, timing circuits, humidity correction apparatus, and alarm/display. The invention relies upon the use of the energy degrading foil to pass selectively certain particles. Energetic alpha particles from a radioactive source enter the sample and hydrogen nuclei, or protons, elastically scattered by alpha particles, are able to penetrate the energy degrading foil which is thick enough to stop the alpha particles. The protons are detected and a suitable output signal can be produced to provide an accurate measure of the quantity of hydrogen in the gas or thin-film sample. The hydrogen detector can be combined with a smoke detector to produce an apparatus capable of detecting both smoke and hydrogen. This technology can also be used to reduce noise and block light penetration in a radon detection application.

摘要: A method includes operating a first cylinder defined by an internal combustion engine in a combustion mode and operating selectively a second cylinder defined by the internal combustion engine in one of a combustion mode or a pumping mode. When the first cylinder is operating in the combustion mode, air is conveyed into the first cylinder from an intake manifold, the air is mixed with fuel and the mixture of the fuel and the air is combusted within the first cylinder. When the second cylinder is operating in the combustion mode, air is conveyed into the second cylinder from the intake manifold, the air is mixed with fuel and the mixture of the fuel and the air is combusted within the second cylinder. When the second cylinder is operating in the pumping mode, air is conveyed into the second cylinder from the intake manifold, the air is compressed without being mixed with fuel and without being combusted, and the compressed air is conveyed into the intake manifold from the second cylinder.

The valve is configured to move relative to the cylinder head a distance between a closed position and an opened position. The portion of the valve defines a flow opening that is in fluid communication with a cylinder of an engine when the valve is in the opened position. The actuator is configured to selectively vary the distance between the closed position and the opened position.

The first end has a first tab extending therefrom defining at least one aperture therethrough so that the first tab defines a first handle. The second end has a second tab extending therefrom defining at least one aperture therethrough so that the second tab defines a second handle. A cementitious product is sealed within the bag, and wherein the first and second handles facilitate the handling of the packaged cementitious product.

摘要: An apparatus includes a cylinder head and a valve member. The cylinder head is configured to be coupled to a cylinder and a gas manifold and has an interior surface defining a valve pocket. The valve member is configured to be disposable within the valve pocket such that the valve member is movable within the valve pocket along a longitudinal axis of the valve member. The valve member has a tapered portion defining multiple valve flow passages. The apparatus has a first configuration and a second configuration. When the apparatus is in the first configuration, each valve flow passage is in fluid communication with the cylinder and the gas manifold. When the apparatus is in the second configuration, each valve flow passage from the plurality of valve flow passages is fluidically isolated from the cylinder.
