    摘要: A laminate material for lighter-than-air vehicles includes a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer, a polyimide layer secured to the liquid crystal polymer fiber layer; and a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) layer secured to the polyimide layer. The layers are secured to one another with a polyurethane adhesive. Adjacent laminates may be secured to one another by a PVDF cover tape on the exterior surfaces and a structural tape on the interior surfaces. The structural tape includes a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer and a polyimide layer to ensure the integrity of the vehicle. An alternative material may include a liquid crystal polymer fiber layer and a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) layer disposed on both sides of the liquid crystal polymer fiber layer.

    摘要: A magnetic influence system for underwater systems has a low-inductance source coil for generating an impulsive magnetic dipole field in the vicinity of the underwater system. A high-voltage power source provides a transient voltage pulse to the source coil, resulting in a rapid current pulse rise time in the source coil. The impulse source coil is mounted on a non-conductive hull section of the underwater system. A plurality of impulse sensor coils are also distributed on the system hull at the null points of the magnetic dipole field and detect the returning scattered signal generated by the impulse source coil.

    摘要: A device which is deployable in the ocean environment to defeat an active torpedo comprises a mesh net structure constructed of a plurality of flat ribbons oriented in a particular geometric orientation with uniform spacings between adjacent ribbons, the ribbons being comprised of synthetic materials and more particularly of SPECTRA yarns in combination with yarns taken from the group comprising nylon, polyester, aramid, and KEVLAR. The net structure has stitched interconnections of the ribbons and a diameter of at least ten feet and exhibits a packing density of about 45 lbs/ft.sup.3 and a substantial neutral buoyancy in salt water.

    摘要: A power generation, transmission and distribution system for an aerostat using a tether, includes a ground-based power delivery system for generating a multi-phase power signal having a frequency at least greater than 400 Hz, an aerostat-based power distribution system for receiving the multi-phase power signal, and a tether for delivering the multi-phase power signal from the ground-based power delivery system to the aerostat-based power distribution system. The base power system generates a 3, 6, or 12 phase base power signal having a nominal frequency signal received by a rectifier to generate a high voltage DC output. A converter/inverter receives the high voltage DC output and generates the multi-phase power signal transmitted by the tether. A transformer aboard the aerostat steps down the multi-phase power signal and a rectifier processes the stepped-down multi-phase power signal into a DC power delivery signal. A flat bus high voltage power delivery system distributes the DC power delivery signal to instruments carried by the aerostat. The tether includes a central strength member and a plurality of electrical and optical conductors disposed around and bonded to the central strength member. An outer sheath surrounds the plurality of conductors wherein any application of force to the outer sheath is transferred through the plurality of conductors to the central strength member.
