Abstract:
Unique methods and systems are introduced herein for the determination of unique spatial light modulator based optical signatures of intrinsic and extrinsic scattering surface markers. These techniques can be used to authenticate semiconductor components and systems at various stages during the manufacturing process by measuring and cross correlating the surface marker's unique optical signature. In addition, these techniques can be used with extrinsic surface markers which are added to existing hardware (e.g. containers, locks, doors, etc.). These markers can then be measured for their unique optical signatures, which can be stored and used at a later time for cross-correlation to authenticate the surface marker and verify the hardware's provenance.

The invention provides a composition comprising: (a) a star polymer comprising: (i) a core portion comprising a polyvalent (meth)acrylic monomer, oligomer or polymer thereof or a polyvalent divinyl non-acrylic monomer, oligomer or polymer thereof; and (ii) at least two arms of polymerized alkyl(meth)acrylate ester; and (b) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the core portion further comprises a functional group of formula (I): —CH2—C(R1)(C(═O)A)-Y— (I) wherein R1 is hydrogen, a linear or branched alkyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms; A is nitrogen or oxygen; and Y is a free radical leaving group selected from the group consisting of one or more atoms or groups of atoms which may be transferred by a radical mechanism under the polymerization conditions, a halogen, an —O—N═ group and an —S—C(═S)— group. The invention further provides the use of the composition in an oil of lubricating viscosity as a dispersant, a viscosity modifier or a precursor to a dispersant viscosity modifier.

A system is provided including a continuous analyte sensor that produces a data stream indicative of a host's analyte concentration and a device that receives and records data from the data stream from the continuous analyte sensor. The data received from the continuous analyte sensor may be used to provide alarms to the user when the analyte concentration and/or the rate of change of analyte concentration, as measured by the continuous analyte sensor, is above or below a predetermined range. Data received from the continuous analyte sensor may also be used to prompt the diabetic or caregiver to take certain actions, such as to perform another single point blood glucose measurement. The device may provide for toggling between modes that allow or prevent the display of glucose concentration values associated with the continuous glucose sensor.

The invention provides a lubricating composition containing a copolymer comprising units derived from monomers (i) α-olefin and (ii) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivatives thereof esterified and amidated with an alcohol and an aromatic amine respectively, and an oil of lubricating viscosity. The invention further relates to the use of the lubricating composition in an internal combustion engine.

A diabetes management system or process is provided herein that may be used to analyze and recognize patterns for a large number of blood glucose concentration measurements and other physiological parameters related to the glycemia of a patient. In particular, a method of monitoring glycemia in a patient may include storing a patient's data on a suitable device, such as, for example, a blood glucose meter. The patient's data may include blood glucose concentration measurements. The diabetes management system or process may be installed on, but is not limited to, a personal computer, an insulin pen, an insulin pump, or a glucose meter. The diabetes management system or process may identify a plurality of pattern types from the data including a testing/dosing pattern, a hypoglycemic pattern, a hyperglycemic pattern, a blood glucose variability pattern, and a comparative pattern. After identifying a particular pattern with the data management system or process, a warning message may be displayed on a screen of a personal computer or a glucose meter. Other messages can also be provided to ensure compliance of any prescribed diabetes regiments or to guide the patient in managing the patient's diabetes.

A method and apparatus for connecting a vehicle-based computing system to a wireless device are provided. When the vehicle-based computing system is powered, it may intially connect to a wireless device. If the system moves out of the range of that device, the connection may be lost. A secondary device may be present however, and automatic connection to that device may be desired so that the vehicle-based computing system can continue to function.

A pet amusement device comprising: a receptacle for catnip; a continuous track surrounding the catnip receptacle; a toy, such as a ball, contained within the continuous track such that the toy may travel along the continuous track; and at least one opening along the continuous track such that the continuous track and the toy are accessible through the at least one opening. The catnip receptacle may have a cap allowing a user to easily add catnip to the receptacle and allowing the scent of the catnip to exit the receptacle. In use, a pet, such as a cat, may smell the catnip and bat the ball around the continuous track. The pet amusement device may be combined with another device with a larger continuous track to produce a device with two concentric tiered tracks in addition to the catnip receptacle.
