Abstract:
A method for separating solids from a drill cuttings and drilling mud mixture feed in a shale shaker includes providing a shale shaker (1) having a basket (4) including a stack of at least two screen decks (8,8a, 8b), wherein the screening surfaces (9,9a, 9b) of the decks are spaced apart and superposed one above the other. A fluid retaining wall (5) and the feed receiving end (12a, 12b) of the screening surface of the lowest screen deck define a pond region (15). In use of the method a drill cuttings and drilling mud mixture feed (18) forms a pond of solids and liquid in the pond region that immerses a portion of the screening surface at the feed receiving end of each of the two screen decks. Apparatus for use in the method is also described.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a multiparty accounts receivable and accounts payable system that allows business trading partners to use a single, shared system for both accounts receivable and accounts payable management. The system allows participants to use the substantial amount of financial and cash flow information captured by the system to borrow more efficiently by permitting lenders to view this information. Furthermore, the system provides a confirmation process to convert existing debt obligations into a new, independent payment obligation due on a date certain and free of any defenses to the underlying contract. The confirmed debt obligations provide a better source of working capital for the participants, or can be converted into electronic promissory notes. The system provides an electronic exchange for electronic promissory notes, allowing participants to raise working capital in various ways, for example, by selling them.
Abstract:
A screen system 8 suitable for use in a vibratory screen apparatus 1, comprising: a screen element 11 consisting essentially of a mesh panel 19 provided with first and second elongate support members 22, 23 extending along opposite end portions 20, 21; and a support frame 12 therefore. The support frame 12 has spaced apart first and second elongate frame elements 13, 14 for engagement with said screen element support members 22, 23 and further elongate frame elements 17, 18 extending between the first and second frame elements 13, 14 for supporting the mesh panel 19. The support frame 12 is provided with at least one mesh panel support 27 provided with an elevating support surface, which tensions the screen element 11 across the support surface 27 and between the screen element support members 22, 23. The latter 22, 23 and the first and second frame elements 13, 14 are being formed and arranged for secure interengagement. At least one of the screen element support members 22, 23 and the respective one of the first and second frame elements 13, 14 is formed and arranged so that when the screen element 19 is tensioned by the mesh panel support 27 with the support surface thereof elevated, the mesh panel 19 is securely held under tension and the screen element support members 22, 23 are driven into securely gripped interengagement with the frame elements 13, 14.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of controlling an output variable of a process having long dead times and delay times, for example for controlling the interior temperature of an absorber refrigerator, and also relates to an apparatus for carrying out such a method. The output variable of the process, such as the interior temperature, is sampled and compared with a desired value in order to determine a desired value deviation. In dependence on the determined desired value deviation, a manipulated variable, such as the power supplied to the absorber, is calculated in such a manner that the output variable of the process is brought near to the desired value. After the lapse of a waiting time, a value of the manipulated variable is newly determined. During the waiting time, the manipulated variable is not altered. The waiting time is calculated on the basis of the difference between the value of the manipulated variable and an earlier value of the manipulated variable. A controller for carrying out the method comprises a memory for an earlier calculated manipulated variable and a timer which is designed to receive the earlier calculated value of the manipulated variable and the current value of the manipulated variable, to calculate a waiting time from these and, after the lapse of this waiting time, to start a new calculation of a value for the manipulated variable.
Abstract:
An apparatus (25) for use in screening a liquid and solids mixture feed (2) comprises a conduit (18), including a screening portion (22) that is formed and arranged to divide a liquid and solids mixture feed flowing through the conduit. The feed (2) is divided into a first, cleaned stream (C1) comprising liquid and solid particles of below a selected size limit, and a second, concentrated, stream (24) comprising liquid, and particles above the selected size limit. The apparatus (25) may be a stand alone module, part of a system with other solids and liquids separating equipment or an integral part of a solids and liquid separator such as a shale shaker. Methods of using the apparatus (25) are also described.
Abstract:
A traffic control system comprises at least one signal unit, at least one detector, control means for controlling the timings of signals displayed by the at least one signal unit in dependence upon output from the at least one detector, and means for determining the position of the or each detector.
Abstract:
The invention concerns methods for use in a multiparty accounts receivable and accounts payable system that allow business trading partners to use a single, shared system for both accounts receivable and accounts payable management. A system implementing the methods of the invention forms an electronic “bridge” between a plurality of business trading partners for purposes of invoicing, dispute resolution, financing, and settlement of single and multiple currency debts. As the invoicing and settlement activities of the participants in the methods of the invention are funneled through a common system, the methods allows a participant to aggregate all debts owed to other participants, aggregate all debts owed by the other participants, and net debts owed to other participants with debts owed by these participants. After aggregation and netting steps, the methods of the present invention allow a participant to issue a single payment to settle numerous accounts payable items, and to receive a single payment that settles numerous accounts receivable items. The methods allow participants to use the substantial amount of financial and cash flow information captured by a system implementing the methods of the invention to borrow more efficiently by permitting lenders to view this information. Furthermore, the methods provide a confirmation process to convert existing debt obligations into a new, independent payment obligation due on a date certain and free of any defenses to the underlying contract. The confirmed debt obligations provide a better source of working capital for the participants, or can be converted into electronic promissory notes. The invention further provides methods for electronic exchange of electronic promissory notes, allowing participants to raise working capital in various ways, for example, by selling them.
Abstract:
A device monitors an appliance that receives power from a source. The device includes a first coupler that couples the device to the power source. A second coupler couples the device to the appliance. A monitoring circuit is connected to the first coupler and the second coupler to monitor power supplied by the source to the appliance. A communications circuit also is provided. The monitoring circuit provides data based on the monitored power to the communications circuit for output to the first coupler. The communications circuit may include a receiver that receives a signal from the first coupler to control the monitoring circuit. The communications circuit also may include a transceiver that receives a signal from the first coupler to control the monitoring circuit and to transmit monitored power data.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a vibratory screening apparatus (1) for use in removing solids from a liquid feed, and a basket (4) therefore. The apparatus comprises a static outer housing (2), and a floating basket vibratable by a vibrator device (10). The basket mounts a stack (7) of screen assemblies (8) provided with respective flow directing trays (9) for receiving filtrates from the screen assemblies. A flow distributor (15) divides the feed into at least first and a second feed streams and directs them onto respective screen assemblies, and receives from the flow directing trays, filtrates from respective screen assemblies.
