摘要: Polymer compositions containing a suitable polymer and a triazine metal phosphate compound are disclosed, and the triazine metal phosphate compound can have a d50 particle size from 0.1 to 45 μm and a BET surface area from 0.5 to 30 m2/g. The polymer compositions have improved moisture resistance and improved wet insulating properties as compared to polymer compositions that contain polymerized versions of the triazine metal phosphate compound. The polymer compositions can be utilized in a variety of end-uses, such as wire and cable applications.

摘要: Processes for producing ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes include the steps of pre-contacting ammonium dimolybdate and a metal hydroxide, and then contacting molybdenum trioxide, to form the ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes. The resulting complexes contain the metal hydroxide and from 1 to 95 wt. % of ammonium octamolybdate, and generally, at least 80 wt. % of the ammonium octamolybdate in the complex is present in an orthorhombic crystalline form. These ammonium octamolybdate/metal hydroxide complexes can be used as smoke suppressants in polymer compositions, such as PVC-based and epoxy-based formulations.

摘要: Processes for producing supported zinc dimolybdate hydroxide/silica complexes include the steps of reacting a zinc compound (such as zinc oxide) and molybdenum trioxide in an aqueous system to form a reaction mixture, and contacting the reaction mixture with silica to form the supported zinc dimolybdate hydroxide/silica complex. The resulting supported zinc dimolybdate hydroxide/silica complexes contain silica and zinc dimolybdate hydroxide at an amount in a range from 3 to 20 wt. % zinc, and generally, at least 80 wt. % of the zinc dimolybdate hydroxide is present in the form Zn3Mo2O8(OH)2. These supported zinc dimolybdate hydroxide/silica complexes are useful in polymer compositions, such as PVC-based and epoxy-based formulations.

摘要: The present invention relates to polyoxometalate-coated alumina trihydrate dispersants prepared by combining a polyaluminum chloride having certain characteristics with alumina trihydrate particles. Such dispersants are useful for forming cationic alumina trihydrate slurries, which can be mixed with titanium dioxide to produce stable cationic slurry blends useful in paper, paper-board, and paint (coatings) applications. The dispersants are also useful for preparing cationic titanium dioxide slurries.

摘要: Methods are provided for beneficially reusing a paint-saturated filter aid, such as paint-saturated alkaline earth metal carbonates, as a substitute in applications requiring virgin alkaline earth metal carbonates. The paint-saturated filter aid is prepared by re-milling paint-saturated filter aid to a predetermined size to produce re-milled particles suitable for reuse in a variety of applications, including flooring, concrete, and the like. Also provided are flooring materials including re-milled particles of a paint-saturated filter aid characterized by one or more of: a median particle size (D50) of about 1 to about 50 microns; less than about 5% of the re-milled particles being retained on a 200 mesh screen; or a top cut size (D90) of about 5 to about 300 microns.
