Excellent water- and oil-repellency and soil releasability can be obtained by a method of preparing a treated textile, having steps of: (1) preparing a treatment liquid containing a water- and oil-repellent agent and a stain blocking agent, (2) adjusting pH of the treatment liquid to at most 7, (3) applying the treatment liquid to a textile, (4) treating the textile with steam, and (5) washing the textile with water and dehydrating the textile, wherein the water- and oil-repellent agent contains at least one fluorine-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a fluorine-containing polymer and a fluorine-containing low molecular weight compound, and the water- and oil-repellent agent or the treatment liquid contains a cationic emulsifying agent.

The fluorine-containing copolymer contains repeating units derived from (a) a fluorine-containing monomer containing a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and (b) a fluorine-free monomer selected from the group consisting of vinyl halide and vinylidene halide, wherein the fluorine-containing copolymer has a melt viscosity of 1,000 to 100,000 cP at a temperature of 100° C. under a load of 25 kgf/cm2.

Disclosed is a fluorine-containing copolymer having sufficient stability in water, which is capable of providing paper with sufficient oil resistance. The fluorine-containing polymer contains, as essential components, (a) a fluorine-containing monomer represented by general formula (I) CH2═C(—X)—C(═O)—Y—[—(CH2)m—Z—]p—(CH2)n—Rf (wherein X represents a hydrogen atom; Y represents —O— or —NH—; Z represents a direct bond, —S— or —SO2—; Rf represents a fluoroalkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms; m is a number of 1-10; n is a number of 0-10; and p is 0 or 1) and (b) an alkoxy group-containing monomer represented by general formula (II) CH2═C(X′)—C(═O)—O—(RO)q—H (wherein X′ represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R represents an alkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms wherein a part or all of hydrogen atoms may be substituted by a hydroxyl group; and q represent an integer of 1-50).
