    Abstract: Surface sizing agents for paper and/or cardboard contain lignin and lignin sulfonates and at least one further surface-finishing substance, wherein it contains 0.1 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 20% by weight of a lignosulfonate source, 0.1 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 25% by weight of lignin, in particular kraft lignin and at least one further surface-finishing substance selected from the group of hydroxylated polymers, such as starch, PVOH, natural or synthetic hydrophobic materials, such as tall oil, tall oil soap or refined products thereof or hydrophobic materials, such as synthetic or natural waxes, styrenes, butadiene, acrylates, alkyl ketene dimer and oils thereof, such as AnKD, alkenyl succinic acid anhydride and the remainder water as a solvent and/or suspending agent, as well as processes for the production and use of the surface sizing agent.

    Abstract: A water vapour-permeable and hot water-resistant paper made substantially of cellulose and of manufacturing additives required for cellulose production, such as pH-value adjusting agents based on acids and/or bases, the paper exclusively contains cellulose with fibre lengths of at least 2.0 mm as a length-weighted mean, in particular of at least 2.5 mm as a length-weighted mean, wherein the cellulose forming the paper is a cellulose ground to a consistency of 30-35% by high-consistency grinding and possibly to a consistency of 4-6% by low-consistency grinding, a proportion of fines in the paper is set at values smaller than 6.5% and the pH value is set in the pseudo-neutral range, in particular at values under 7.5, preferably at values between 6.6 and 7.4, and an elongation of the paper in the machine direction is ≤3%.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a release liner, an adhesive article comprising the same, a process for producing the release liner, and a process for decorating an object using the adhesive article. According to an embodiment, the release liner comprises a carrier substrate (10), a thermoplastic polymer layer (20) applied on one side of the carrier substrate (10), and a release layer (30) applied on the thermoplastic polymer layer (20) on the side opposite to the carrier substrate (10). The thermoplastic polymer layer (20) and the release layer (30) include a network of ridges (25), which result in elevations of the surface of the release liner on the side of the release layer. The surface on the side of the release layer (30) has a roughness at least between the ridges (25), such that it has a plurality of pits (1, 2, 3). The average number of pits (1, 2, 3) per an area of 3.4 mm2 of the plan view of the release liner surface is at least 50 as determined with a confocal 3D laser scanning microscope at a magnification of 100. The pits (1, 2, 3) extend at least to a level of 10.0 μm above the deepest point of the deepest pit (1) within said area of 3.4 mm2.
